Job Description & Responsibilities

Company Description Paragon Refractories and Minerals (PRM) is a globally active engineering and manufacturing company providing high-performance refractory, furnace, and thermal solutions to steel and heavy-industry clients. Established in 2000, PRM designs, manufactures, supplies, installs, and commissions refractory materials, mechanical equipment, and furnace systems for demanding reheating furnace applications.

The company’s solutions are built for extreme thermal loads and harsh operating environments, delivering improved energy efficiency, reliability, and reduced downtime. PRM offers expertise in mechanical equipment for walking beam, walking hearth, and pusher-type reheating furnaces, as well as maintenance, modernization, boiler engineering, and industrial cast iron components. With projects executed across India, Africa, Madagascar, and other regions, PRM serves steel plants, rolling mills, and industrial customers as a trusted global partner in refractory and furnace engineering.

Role Description The Senior Mechanical Engineer – Walking Beam Reheating Furnace will lead the mechanical design, engineering, and optimization of walking beam reheating furnace systems for steel and heavy-industry clients. This full-time, on-site role based in Durgapur involves preparing detailed mechanical layouts, performing calculations, and developing CAD models and drawings for furnace structures, walking beams, drive mechanisms, and related equipment.

The role includes coordinating with cross-functional teams for project execution, supporting installation and commissioning activities, and troubleshooting mechanical issues in existing furnaces to improve performance and reliability. The engineer will contribute to research and development initiatives, evaluate new materials and technologies, and support modernization projects to enhance energy efficiency and extend furnace campaign life. Regular interaction with vendors, contractors, and client engineering teams is required to ensure technical compliance, safety, and quality standards are met throughout the project lifecycle.
