Job Description & Responsibilities

The D. E. Shaw group is a global investment and technology development firm with more than $100 billion in investment capital as of June 1, 2026, and offices in North America, Europe, and Asia. Since our founding in 1988, our firm has earned an international reputation for successful investing based on innovation, careful risk management, and the quality and depth of our staff. We have a significant presence in the world’s capital markets, investing in a wide range of companies and financial instruments in both developed and developing economies.

We are looking for resourceful candidates to join our Fundamental Equities team within the Financial Research group, based in Hyderabad, Bengaluru or Gurugram. In this role, you will cover companies within the Software and Payments sectors and contribute to the development of investment views through rigorous fundamental analysis. You will act as a thought partner to front office teams, supporting idea generation, refining existing investment theses, and bringing differentiated insights into ongoing discussions. Your day-to-day work will involve developing deep understanding of a company’s business model and competitive positioning and building financial models to reflect that understanding. You will track company developments, earnings, news flow, and external research perspectives to identify key themes and inflection points and synthesize these into investment memos. In addition, you will conduct in-depth benchmarking of companies against peers across financial and operational metrics, and engage regularly with management teams, sell-side analysts, intermediaries, and sector experts to inform your research and strengthen sector understanding.
