Junior Research Fellows/Project Students

The X-Ray Imaging Detector (XRID) Lab at TIFR Hyderabad invites applications from highly motivated candidates with a strong background or interest in experimental instrumentation for laser, high-energy, or nuclear physics.

The Petawatt Laser Facility, at TIFR Hyderabad will provide a diverse secondary radiation and particle sources. The XRID Lab supports experiments and applications utilising these sources, particularly in biological and industrial imaging. The lab's activities include the development and characterisation of novel gas-based, scintillator, fibre, and photodetectors, along with the design of associated readout electronics and data acquisition (DAQ) systems.

Essential Qualifications

Master’s degree in Physics or electronics; Undergraduate degree in Electronics Engineering or closely related discipline. Qualification in NET or GATE exam is mandatory.

Tenure: 1 year

Honorarium/Stipend

Rs. 37,000/- p.m. + shared accommodation

Desirable qualifications

Working experience in developing and characterising high energy or nuclear physics detectors; setting up or measurements with laser systems.

Expertise in analog or digital electronics, design knowledge in embedded systems, FPGAs, etc.

Final-year M.Sc. and B.E./B.Tech. students seeking thesis projects of at least six months' duration are also encouraged to apply. Stipend and/or accommodation for these students will be determined in accordance with Institute rules.
