India Sourcing & Supplier Development Manager Steel Products

Employment Type: Full-Time

Location: India Home based / Remote with frequent factory travel

Compensation: USD $1,500$2,000/month, depending on experience, plus performance bonus and business travel reimbursement A U.S.-based shelving brand is looking for an experienced Sourcing & Supplier Development Manager in India to develop qualified manufacturers for heavy-duty steel shelving and related fabricated steel products.

Responsibilities

Identify, visit and qualify reliable steel fabrication and shelving manufacturers throughout India.

Evaluate factory equipment, manufacturing capability, capacity, quality systems and management.

Develop suppliers for steel sourcing, roll forming, punching, welding, wire decking, powder coating and packaging.

Negotiate FOB pricing, tooling cost, MOQ, lead time and payment terms.

Verify steel sources, mill certificates and material traceability.

Coordinate samples, tooling, trial production and production follow-up.

Conduct basic factory/product inspections and follow corrective actions.

Prepare clear sourcing, factory visit and quality reports for U.S. management.

Qualifications

7+ years of sourcing, procurement or supplier-development experience.

Strong background in steel fabrication, sheet metal, shelving/racking, metal furniture, automotive components or similar manufacturing.

Good understanding of roll forming, punching, welding and powder coating.

Proven experience finding and developing new factories, not just managing existing suppliers.

Able to read basic engineering drawings and evaluate product quality.

Experience with U.S./European export manufacturing preferred.

Good English communication and reporting skills.

Willing to travel frequently throughout India.

Independent, hands-on, reliable and high integrity.
