Software Engineer Intern

💻 About the Role

We are looking for a Software Engineer Intern who is passionate about building scalable systems, solving technical problems, and learning how products work at scale.

As part of the FRND engineering team, you’ll get hands-on experience building and improving APIs, databases, and core backend services that power our product. You’ll work on real-world problems, collaborate with experienced engineers, and contribute to features used by millions of users.

🛠️ What You'll Do

• 🔧 Assist in designing and developing backend services, APIs, and features.
• 🐍 Work primarily with Python & Django, with exposure to Java.
• 🗄️ Work with databases to store, manage, and optimise data efficiently.
• 🤝 Collaborate with frontend/mobile developers, product managers, and designers to build robust features.
• ✨ Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code.
• 🐞 Participate in debugging, testing, and improving application performance.
• 📚 Learn and explore new backend technologies, tools, and engineering best practices.
• 🚀 Contribute to real product features and backend systems in a fast-paced startup environment.

🎯 What We're Looking For

• 🎓 Are available for an in-office internship for 6 months
• 🚀 High-performers may also be considered for a PPO based on their performance
• 🎓 Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 💻 Strong programming fundamentals and problem-solving skills.
• 🐍 Good understanding of Python and Django.
• ☕ Familiarity with Java and object-oriented programming.
• 🗄️ Basic understanding of databases and SQL.
• 🌐 Familiarity with REST APIs and basic networking concepts.
• 🔀 Familiarity with Git is a plus.
• 🧠 Curiosity, ownership, and a strong willingness to learn.

The FRND team operates six days a week, with every 1st and 3rd Saturday working.
