Software Development Engineer (SDE) – Mobile (iOS & Android) with Web

On-Site, Hyderabad, India · Full-Time

As we scale, we are looking for a Mobile-first SDE who can take end-to-end ownership of our iOS and Android apps from a single cross-platform codebase, and who can also contribute to our web products when needed.

What You'll Do

Core Mobile Development (Primary)

• Build and ship production-grade iOS and Android apps from one codebase using Flutter (Dart) and/or React Native (Expo, TypeScript).
• Architect scalable, modular mobile apps with clean architecture and reusable component libraries / design systems.
• Implement robust state management (Riverpod / Bloc / Provider for Flutter; Zustand / Redux Toolkit / TanStack Query for React Native).
• Build smooth, responsive, accessible UIs that feel native on both platforms, with 60/120 fps animations and gestures.
• Integrate native device capabilities: camera, location/maps, biometrics, push notifications, deep links, background tasks, in-app purchases, offline storage and sync.
• Write platform-specific code (Swift / Kotlin, platform channels, native modules) when a feature needs it.
• Own the release process: code signing, TestFlight / Play Console, staged rollouts, OTA updates, crash and performance monitoring (Firebase Crashlytics, Sentry).
• Optimize app startup time, memory, battery usage, and bundle size through profiling.

Meta Platform & AI-Driven Experiences

• Build Meta app development–related features: integrations with Meta platforms (WhatsApp Business Platform, Messenger, Instagram, Meta Graph API, Facebook Login, Meta SDKs, app review and permissions flows).
• Build AI-driven, streaming mobile interfaces — chat/agent UIs, token-by-token streaming, real-time updates, and rich message rendering (markdown, code).
• Integrate real-time features using WebSockets, SSE / streaming APIs, FCM/APNs push, or event-driven updates.
• Build complex multi-step workflows, dashboards, and data-heavy views (charts, lists, maps) optimized for mobile.

Web Development (Secondary)

• Build and maintain web apps using Next.js (App Router), React, TypeScript, and Tailwind CSS.
• Share logic, design tokens, and API clients between mobile and web where possible (TypeScript monorepo, shared SDKs, or Flutter Web where appropriate).
• Apply sound rendering strategies (SSR / SSG / ISR / CSR) and keep web performance and accessibility high.
• Contribute to embeddable / SDK-style web widgets where relevant.

Architecture & Backend Integration

• Integrate with backend services (TypeScript/Node and Python) over REST and/or GraphQL APIs.
• Implement secure authentication (JWT, OAuth, social login, Sign in with Apple/Google, session-based auth) and secure token storage.
• Design offline-first data layers and caching strategies; handle large paginated and infinite lists efficiently.
• Ensure robust error handling, observability, analytics, and performance monitoring.
• Drive testing strategy: unit, widget/component, integration, and E2E tests (flutter_test, Jest, React Native Testing Library, Detox, Maestro, Patrol; Cypress/Playwright for web).

Engineering & Collaboration

• Translate product requirements and Figma designs into polished mobile and web implementations.
• Conduct structured code reviews and enforce high-quality coding standards.
• Collaborate closely with backend engineers, product managers, and designers.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for mobile and web (GitHub Actions, Fastlane, Codemagic, EAS).
• Take ownership of features from concept to production release; mentor junior engineers.

Must-Have Qualifications

Mobile Expertise (Primary)

• ≥ 1 year of production experience shipping cross-platform mobile apps to both the App Store and Google Play.
• Strong command of Flutter + Dart and/or React Native + TypeScript; willingness to learn the other.
• Solid understanding of iOS and Android platform conventions, app lifecycle, permissions, and Human Interface / Material Design guidelines.
• Experience with state management, navigation, local storage (SQLite / Hive / Drift / MMKV / WatermelonDB), and offline sync.
• Experience with push notifications, deep linking, and app store release and review processes.
• Experience with mobile performance profiling and optimization.

API & Integration

• Experience integrating mobile and web clients with Node.js and Python backends.
• Strong understanding of REST APIs and/or GraphQL.
• Familiarity with authentication systems (JWT, OAuth, session-based auth) and secure data handling on devices.
• Experience handling streaming responses, WebSockets, and large paginated datasets.

Web Skills (Secondary)

• Working knowledge of React, Next.js, TypeScript, and Tailwind CSS.
• Understanding of rendering strategies (SSR, SSG, ISR, CSR) and responsive, accessible web design.
• Familiarity with form handling and validation (React Hook Form, Zod) and data fetching (TanStack Query).

DevOps & Quality

• CI/CD familiarity for mobile (Fastlane, GitHub Actions, Codemagic, EAS) and web.
• Strong Git workflows and collaborative branching strategies.
• Testing mindset spanning unit, integration, and E2E coverage.
• Comfort with Docker-based local development workflows.

Engineering Mindset

• Clean, maintainable code adhering to SOLID principles.
• Strong debugging and performance-profiling skills.
• Ownership-driven, product-first thinking.
• Comfortable working independently in an in-office startup environment.

Portfolio, Live Apps & Demos

You must be able to show, not just tell. With your application, explicitly share:

• An active GitHub profile showcasing real, production-grade mobile code (not just tutorials or forks).
• Live apps — App Store and/or Google Play links (or TestFlight / internal-testing builds) that we can install and use right now. Flutter or React Native + TypeScript projects strongly preferred.
• A portfolio or demo reel (site, video walkthrough, or screen recordings) highlighting your UI/UX craftsmanship — visual quality, animations, interaction design, and polish you are personally responsible for.
• At least one live web project (URL) built with React / Next.js, as secondary proof of web skills.
• Demonstrated ability to build complex SaaS products, AI-integrated UIs, real-time apps, or data-heavy interfaces.
• Clean code structure, thoughtful architecture, and clear documentation.
