Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Security Operations Center (SOC) role based in the Mohali district. The SOC professional will monitor security events and alerts, analyze logs and network traffic, and identify potential threats or anomalies in real time. Daily responsibilities include triaging and responding to security incidents, performing initial investigation and escalation, and documenting findings and actions in accordance with established procedures and SLAs. The role involves collaborating with cybersecurity, network, and infrastructure teams to contain and remediate incidents, improve detection rules, and enhance overall security posture. The SOC team member will also contribute to continuous improvement by updating playbooks, participating in post-incident reviews, and staying current with emerging threats and security best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor security alerts that are reported by the various security tools and Endpoint
  • Detection and Response (EDR) platforms
  • Determine the severity and urgency of the alerts and perform initial triage
  • Run various scans on workstations and remediate any issue with infections
  • Escalate threats to Level 2 or the SOC Manager when necessary
  • Review client’s emails to determine their legitimacy to prevent phishing or malicious from being released to the end user
  • Determine if changes to email filter settings are required in end user profiles to reduce false positives
  • Document incidents and remediation steps taken during the triage process
  • Isolate endpoints and block IPs that are potential risks
  • Control conditional access policies to block security risks such as impossible travel
  • Manage country blocking rules to allow users access when traveling

Qualifications

  • Experience: 2-4 years of experience in IT security operations, with a strong emphasis on SOC operations.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science
  • Basic understanding of networking and cybersecurity principles
  • Experience with monitoring and initial incident triage processes.
  • Experience with modern aiSIEM and event aggregation tools, such as CrowdStrike, Splunk, Arctic Wolf, AlienVault, or Seceon
  • Firm understanding of the capabilities of the email and web filtering platforms that are utilized in client environments
  • Familiarity with TCP/IP, firewalls, VPNs, and reviewing logs
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical thinking
  • Excellent communication skills for incident reporting
  • Ability to explain the necessary steps taken to the end users when taking measures to protect their environment
  • Willingness to work shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as SOC operations are 24x7x365.
