Summary

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer (SSE) - Backend Full Stack to develop customer-facing web applications and data-driven visualizations for a digital performance benchmarking team. This role is focused on Java Spring / Spring Boot development, RESTful APIs, and collaboration on responsive, high-performance web interfaces.

This engagement supports a team responsible for building customer-facing web and mobile experiences and publishing data-driven visualizations on a public website. The work spans high-performance web development and collaboration across design, architecture, and engineering to improve existing systems and deliver functional, performant user interfaces.

Tasks and Deliverables

• Develop backend services using Java Spring and Spring Boot.
• Build and support customer-facing web applications and data-driven visualizations.
• Create and consume RESTful APIs for full-stack web application development.
• Translate design team deliverables and style guides into functional user interfaces.
• Ensure responsive design, cross-browser compatibility, and strong application performance.
• Follow coding standards and build unit tests, integration tests, and deployment scripts.
• Collaborate with leads to define software architectures and identify system improvement opportunities.
• Contribute to continual improvement by suggesting enhancements to user interfaces, architecture, and technologies.

Required experience

• 5-8 years of experience developing customer-facing web applications.
• 5+ years of experience in Java Spring or similar J2EE frameworks.
• Proven full-stack web development experience with RESTful API creation and consumption.
• Strong understanding of RESTful API principles.
• Strong understanding of security best practices.
• Strong experience with unit testing and end-to-end testing.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related engineering field.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of ReactJS or similar JavaScript frameworks.
• Front-end development experience with JavaScript libraries or micro frameworks such as React, Angular, or Backbone, plus HTML and CSS.
• Prior experience with open-source technologies and applications.
• Experience working in a fast-paced Agile/SCRUM environment.
