Role Overview

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer who can contribute across both backend software development and L2.5 production support.

The role involves building scalable cloud-native applications while also acting as an escalation point for production issues involving applications, APIs, microservices, databases, messaging and AWS infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

Software Development

  • Design, develop, test, deploy and maintain scalable backend services using Node.js/TypeScript and Java.
  • Build highly available and resilient cloud-native applications on AWS.
  • Develop REST APIs, microservices and distributed applications.
  • Work with event-driven technologies such as Kafka, SQS/SNS and RabbitMQ.
  • Design and optimize SQL/NoSQL databases, queries, indexes and data-access patterns.
  • Apply clean-code principles, design patterns and engineering best practices.
  • Implement retry, timeout, circuit-breaker, idempotency and error-handling mechanisms.
  • Develop unit, integration, API and component tests.
  • Participate in design/architecture reviews and peer code reviews.
  • Mentor junior and mid-level engineers.

L2.5 Production Support

  • Act as an escalation point for incidents unresolved by L1/Operations teams.
  • Troubleshoot applications, APIs, microservices, databases, messaging, integrations and infrastructure.
  • Use logs, metrics, distributed traces, dashboards and AWS CloudWatch for troubleshooting.
  • Diagnose API failures, timeouts, performance issues, database connectivity and integration failures.
  • Troubleshoot Kafka topics/consumers, SQS queues, SNS integrations, DLQs and failed/retried messages.
  • Investigate SQL/NoSQL issues including slow queries, connection pools, locking and data inconsistencies.
  • Monitor application health, latency, error rates, failed transactions and resource utilization.
  • Restore services within agreed SLA/SLO targets.
  • Participate in major incident management and coordinate with DevOps/SRE, infrastructure, database, network, security and vendor teams.
  • Perform RCA for recurring/high-severity incidents and implement permanent fixes.
  • Support releases, hotfixes, rollback activities and post-deployment validation.
  • Create and maintain runbooks, troubleshooting guides and knowledge-base documentation.
  • Improve monitoring and alerts to reduce MTTD/MTTR.
  • Identify opportunities to automate repetitive support activities.
  • Participate in on-call/support rotation when required.
  • Conduct knowledge-transfer sessions with L1/support teams.

  • Strong ownership of production incidents and permanent resolution.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Comfortable collaborating with L1, L3, DevOps/SRE and cross-functional teams.
  • Willing to participate in on-call support as required.

Interview Process

2 Technical Rounds + 1 Client Round + HR

Important: Excellent communication skills are mandatory as this is a client-facing role involving regular interaction with technical teams and stakeholders.
