Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Software Test Engineer – Functional QA to ensure the delivery of high-quality software solutions through comprehensive functional testing. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in manual testing, requirement analysis, defect management, and end-to-end validation of enterprise applications. The candidate should work closely with Product Owners, Business Analysts, Developers, and cross-functional teams throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).

Key Responsibilities

· Analyze business requirements, functional specifications, and user stories.

· Review requirements and identify ambiguities, inconsistencies, and testability concerns.

· Participate in requirement grooming and sprint planning sessions.

· Prepare comprehensive test plans, test scenarios, and detailed test cases.

· Maintain Requirement Traceability Matrix (RTM) to ensure complete test coverage.

· Estimate testing effort and provide input for release planning.

· Execute functional, system, integration, end-to-end, regression, smoke, sanity, and exploratory testing.

· Validate business workflows against functional and non-functional requirements.

· Perform User Acceptance Testing (UAT) support and production validation activities.

· Identify, document, prioritize, and track software defects through closure.

· Collaborate with development teams to reproduce, analyze, and resolve defects.

· Verify bug fixes and perform regression testing before releases.

· Conduct root cause analysis for recurring defects and recommend preventive actions.

· Validate backend data using SQL queries.

· Perform API testing using tools such as Postman to validate request and response payloads.

· Verify data consistency across multiple integrated systems.

· Participate in Daily Stand-ups, Sprint Planning, Sprint Reviews, and Retrospectives.

· Provide regular QA status updates and testing progress to stakeholders.

· Prepare and maintain test execution reports, defect reports, and test summary reports.

· Support release validation, production deployment verification, and post-release testing.

· Ensure compliance with QA standards, processes, and best practices.

· Identify opportunities to improve testing efficiency and quality processes.

· Mentor junior QA engineers and support knowledge sharing within the team.

· Collaborate effectively with Product Owners, Business Analysts, Developers, DevOps, and other stakeholders.

Required Skills & Experience

· 8-10 years of experience in Software Testing with strong Functional QA expertise.

· Strong knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC).

· Hands-on experience in Functional Testing, System Testing, Integration Testing, Regression Testing, Smoke Testing, Sanity Testing, End-to-End Testing, and Exploratory Testing.

· Strong experience in requirement analysis and test case design techniques.

· Experience in creating Test Plans, Test Scenarios, Test Cases, RTM, Test Summary Reports, and Release Sign-off documentation.

· Strong experience in defect lifecycle management using Jira, Azure DevOps, HP ALM, or similar tools.

· Experience in SQL queries for backend data validation.

· Experience in REST API testing using Postman or similar tools.

· Experience working with Agile Scrum and Waterfall methodologies.

· Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.

· Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

· Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.

· Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering quality software.

· Experience working on enterprise applications and integrated systems.

· Basic understanding of test automation concepts is an added advantage.

· ISTQB Certification is preferred but not mandatory.
