Senior Java Software Engineer

Company Description PICKUPY is a hassle-free food pickup platform connecting customers with nearby restaurants for convenient, time-saving orders. Customers can place orders in advance, receive notifications when their food is ready, and pick up at a time that fits their schedule. The platform is designed to reduce wait times, help users skip lines, and ensure they receive fresh food faster. PICKUPY focuses on improving the food pickup experience through reliable technology and a user-friendly interface.

Role Description The Senior Java Software Engineer will design, develop, and maintain high-performance backend services that power the PICKUPY platform. Day-to-day responsibilities include implementing new features, optimizing existing code, and building scalable microservices using Java and the Spring Framework. The role involves collaborating with product managers, designers, and other engineers to translate business requirements into technical solutions, reviewing code, and ensuring high standards of security, reliability, and performance. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Panaji, with direct involvement in architectural decisions, troubleshooting production issues, and mentoring other engineers.

Qualifications

• Strong Software Development skills, including experience with designing, implementing, and maintaining production-grade applications.
• Hands-on experience with Microservices architecture and building distributed, scalable systems.
• Proficiency in Programming with Java, including object-oriented design and clean coding practices.
• Deep knowledge of the Spring Framework and related ecosystem for building robust backend services.
• Experience with RESTful APIs, databases (SQL/NoSQL), and integration with third-party services.
• Familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and modern tooling (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, cloud platforms) is beneficial.
• Strong problem-solving skills, ability to debug complex issues, and write maintainable, testable code.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills, with experience working in cross-functional teams.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Previous experience in a senior or lead backend engineering role, ideally in high-traffic or real-time platforms.
