Senior Full Stack Backend Engineer – CPaaS & Messaging

Telepie Technology (Telepie.com) is a CPaaS company providing SMS, WhatsApp and RCS communication APIs to businesses. Our platform is growing quickly, and we’re looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to help it scale reliably under increasing traffic.

About the role

You will work on the core of our platform: improving throughput, reliability and performance as message and API volumes grow across SMS, WhatsApp and RCS. You’ll join an engineering team of 3 and take ownership of scaling problems across the backend.

What you’ll do

• Scale our messaging and API workloads to handle significantly higher throughput
• Optimize queue-driven processing, including delivery pipelines, retries, rate limiting and webhooks
• Improve database performance, query design and reliability at scale
• Strengthen observability, reliability and fault tolerance across services
• Identify and resolve production bottlenecks through profiling, load testing and monitoring
• Work with the frontend and product teams to ship improvements safely
• Our tech stack
• Backend: Node.js, TypeScript, Express.js, REST APIs, Drizzle ORM, BullMQ + Redis, BetterAuth, PostgreSQL (DigitalOcean), pnpm
• Frontend: React.js, Zustand, NextUI, Tailwind CSS, React Hook Form + Zod, ApexCharts
• What we’re looking for
• 5+ years of backend experience with Node.js and TypeScript
• Hands-on experience scaling high-throughput, queue-based systems (BullMQ, Redis or similar)
• Strong PostgreSQL skills: indexing, query tuning, partitioning, connection pooling
• Experience diagnosing and fixing production performance issues
• Ability to own problems end to end in a fast-moving environment
• Willingness to work from our New Delhi office five days a week
• Experience in telecom, messaging (SMS, WhatsApp, RCS), voice or other CPaaS products
• Experience with multi-tenant SaaS, webhooks, and rate limiting or throttling
• Familiarity with horizontal scaling, Docker, Kubernetes and cloud infrastructure (DigitalOcean or similar)
