Senior Data Engineer / BI Engineer (Databricks + Power BI)

Contract role in Mumbai for a 6–7 years data engineering/BI professional to design and implement ETL/ELT pipelines in Databricks using Spark, build enterprise data models and dimensional/star schemas, and develop/optimize Power BI semantic models with strong DAX and SQL. The role also involves code reviews, technical governance/QA, and mentoring, requiring clear English communication and collaboration.

Responsibilities

• A minimum of 6-7 years of experience in Data Engineering, Business Intelligence, or Analytics is required
• Strong hands-on experience with enterprise data modeling is mandatory
• Proven experience designing and implementing ETL/ELT solutions in Databricks using Spark
• Strong experience developing and optimizing Power BI semantic models, datasets, and DAX calculations
• Advanced SQL skills and a solid understanding of data warehousing concepts such as Star Schema and dimensional modeling
• Experience performing code reviews, technical governance, and quality assurance activities
• Strong collaboration skills and the ability to mentor less experienced team members
• Fluent in English, both written and spoken, with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly
