Job Description & Responsibilities

Position Summary

Telica Telecom is seeking an experienced, highly technical, and accomplished RAN Test Engineer with 4 to 6 years of mobile network testing experience to join our growing team on a full-time, permanent basis in Bengaluru, Karnataka. In this specialized radio access network testing and validation role, you will spearhead testing, debugging, and optimizing 2G GSM, 4G LTE (eNodeB), and 5G New Radio (NR) RAN technologies in rigorous lab and field environments. You will work closely with wireless system architects, protocol stack developers, and RF optimization squads to ensure exceptional call processing performance, KPI compliance, and interoperability. Ideal candidates bring a robust academic degree in telecommunications or electronics engineering, deep practical mastery of QXDM, TEMS, Wireshark, call processing protocols (RRC, RLC/MAC, S1-AP, X2, IMS, VoLTE), and immediate availability for deployment in Bengaluru.

Detailed Job Description

As a RAN Test Engineer at Telica Telecom in Bengaluru, Karnataka, you will take full ownership of radio access network test execution, protocol verification, log analysis, and bug tracking across 2G, 4G, and 5G infrastructure. Your day-to-day responsibilities encompass executing 4G eNodeB testing, validating Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), analyzing call processing and LTE interface protocols, debugging RF and signaling logs using QXDM, TEMS, and Wireshark, executing Linux command-line diagnostics, and managing bug tracking via Bugzilla and GitLab. You will conduct rigorous RAN system testing in advanced lab environments and collaborate with cross-functional R&D teams to isolate and resolve software and hardware anomalies. Working in a fast-paced wireless technology environment, you will drive mobile network reliability and innovation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, execute, and document comprehensive radio access network (RAN) test scenarios across 2G, 4G LTE, and 5G NR technologies.
  • Perform rigorous 4G eNodeB testing, feature verification, and Key Performance Indicator (KPI) validation.
  • Analyze complex call processing sequences and LTE/5G interface protocols including RRC, RLC/MAC, S1-AP, X2, IMS, VoLTE, and 3GPP standards.
  • Capture, inspect, and debug air-interface and core-interface logs utilizing advanced diagnostic tools such as QXDM, TEMS, and Wireshark.
  • Execute Linux command-line utilities, shell scripts, and deep log analysis to troubleshoot protocol signaling errors.
  • Track, log, verify, and close software defects utilizing bug tracking platforms such as Bugzilla and GitLab.
  • Conduct comprehensive RAN system testing, stress testing, and regression testing in advanced laboratory environments.
  • Collaborate proactively with protocol stack developers, RF engineers, and product managers during agile release cycles.
  • Maintain complete technical documentation, test execution reports, verification matrices, and defect logs.
  • Ensure strict adherence to 3GPP standards, operator specifications, and internal quality benchmarks.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Telecommunications Engineering, Electronics & Communication, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline.
  • Minimum 4 to 6 years of professional working experience in radio access network (RAN) testing, protocol verification, or mobile R&D.
  • Strong technical proficiency and hands-on testing experience across 2G GSM, 4G LTE, and 5G RAN technologies.
  • Demonstrated expertise in 4G eNodeB testing, KPI validation, and call processing flows (IMS, VoLTE, 3GPP).
  • Deep practical familiarity with interface protocols including RRC, RLC/MAC, S1-AP, and X2.
  • Hands-on operational experience with industry-standard debugging tools such as QXDM, TEMS, and Wireshark.
  • Strong Linux command-line proficiency and log analysis capabilities.
  • Professional availability for full-time employment in Bengaluru, Karnataka.

Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Professional certifications in wireless communications, 5G network architecture, or ISTQB software testing.
  • Hands-on scripting proficiency in Python or Bash for test automation and log parsing.
  • Prior working experience in tier-1 telecommunications equipment vendors (Ericsson, Nokia, Huawei, ZTE) or R&D test labs.
  • Advanced understanding of Open RAN (O-RAN) architectures and cloud-native RAN (vRAN) testing frameworks.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and local regional languages.

Job Compensation and Notice

  • Salary/Rate: Competitive and commensurate with experience
  • Notice Period: Immediate to short notice preferred
  • Contract Duration: Permanent / Full-Time (Bengaluru, Karnataka)
  • Application Deadline: Open until filled
