Position Project Manager - Solar Thermal Engineering Projects

Location – Vadodara (Muni Seva Ashram Goraj, Ta, Waghodia, Vadodara, Gujarat 391760)

Role Overview

We are looking for a technically strong and execution-focused Project Manager with an interdisciplinary background across mechanical systems, electrical systems, DCS/control systems, instrumentation, and solar thermal technologies. The ideal candidate should be capable of managing complex engineering projects from concept, design coordination, procurement, site execution, testing, commissioning, and final handover. This role requires a professional who understands both technical depth and project execution discipline, with strong ownership of timeline, cost, quality, safety, stakeholder coordination, and documentation.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Project Planning & Management
• Lead end-to-end project planning, scheduling, execution, monitoring, control, and closure.
• Prepare detailed project schedules using Microsoft Project, including WBS, dependencies, milestones, critical path, resource allocation, baseline planning, and progress tracking.
• Monitor project progress against timeline, scope, cost, quality, procurement, and commissioning targets
• Identify delays, risks, bottlenecks, and resource constraints and prepare corrective action plans.
• Prepare weekly and monthly project reports, dashboards, MOMs, action trackers, delay logs, and management updates.
• Maintain project documentation, approvals, technical submissions, procurement status, vendor follow-ups, and site progress records.
• Technical Coordination
• Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering activities across mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, automation, DCS/PLC/SCADA, and solar thermal systems.
• Review and coordinate drawings, BOQs, specifications, layouts, vendor documents, equipment datasheets, and engineering deliverables.
• Understand and coordinate piping, structures, receivers, tracking systems, heat transfer systems, steam systems, thermal oil systems, electrical panels,instrumentation, and balance of plant.
• Bridge communication between design engineering, procurement, quality, site execution, vendors, consultants, and commissioning teams.
• Support design review meetings, technical discussions, HAZOP/operability reviews, commissioning planning, and system integration activities.
• Solar Thermal & Industrial Project Execution
• Manage execution of solar thermal or renewable energy projects involving concentrators, receivers, thermal systems, steam generation, pumps, piping, valves, insulation, electrical systems, instrumentation, and controls.
• Understand solar field layout, receiver alignment, tracking system operation, thermal performance considerations, and integration with process/utility systems.
• Coordinate mechanical erection, electrical installation, instrumentation installation, DCS integration, testing, trial runs, commissioning, and handover.
• Drive closure of punch points, commissioning issues, NCRs, field changes, and handover documentation.
• Procurement, Vendor & Contractor Management
• Coordinate with procurement teams for timely ordering, delivery, inspection, and site availability of materials.
• Track long-lead and critical items such as receivers, pumps, valves, instrumentation, electrical panels, drives, tracking components, and control systems.
• Review vendor schedules, technical documents, inspection plans, quality documents, and delivery commitments.
• Coordinate with contractors and vendors to ensure timeline, quality, safety, and scope compliance.
• Support techno-commercial evaluation, vendor comparison, and contract execution follow-up where required.
• Site Execution, Safety & Quality
• Monitor site activities and ensure work is executed as per approved drawings, specifications, method statements, safety norms, and project schedule.
• Conduct site review meetings and ensure timely closure of action points.
• Track material consumption, installation progress, inspection status, deviations, punch lists, and commissioning readiness.
• Maintain strong focus on safety, quality, productivity, documentation discipline, and practical problem-solving at site.
• Risk, Cost & Change Control
• Identify risks related to design, procurement, execution, manpower, site constraints, quality, safety, and commissioning.
• Prepare risk mitigation plans, escalation notes, recovery schedules, and decision logs.
