Job Description – Manager – Ocean Export Pricing

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Manager - Ocean Export Pricing with strong expertise in ocean freight pricing, shipping line negotiations, customer handling, and commercial coordination.

The candidate will be responsible for managing export pricing requests, preparing competitive quotations, negotiating with shipping lines and overseas agents, supporting the sales team, and ensuring timely and accurate pricing solutions to customers.

Key Responsibilities

• Handle Ocean Export pricing for FCL/LCL shipments and provide competitive quotations to customers and the sales team.
• Manage regular and spot pricing enquiries, RFQs, tenders, and customer rate requests.
• Coordinate with shipping lines, NVOCCs, overseas agents, and other vendors for competitive rates and service options.
• Negotiate freight rates, free days, surcharges, and other commercial terms with shipping lines.
• Maintain and update ocean freight rate sheets, tariffs, and pricing databases.
• Work closely with the Sales and Operations teams to provide suitable pricing and routing solutions based on customer requirements.
• Support the sales team in customer meetings and business discussions related to ocean freight pricing and solutions.
• Visit customers along with the sales team to understand their business requirements, shipment patterns, trade lanes, and pricing expectations.
• Handle customer pricing queries and ensure timely resolution and follow-up.
• Analyse market rates, carrier pricing, trade lanes, and competitor offerings to maintain competitive pricing.
• Coordinate with operations to ensure quoted rates and commercial terms are correctly implemented.
• Monitor shipment profitability and contribute towards maintaining healthy margins.
• Support the team in achieving revenue and profitability targets for the ocean export business.
• Maintain strong working relationships with shipping lines, agents, customers, and internal stakeholders.
• Ensure proper documentation and adherence to company pricing and approval processes.
• Provide regular pricing and market updates to the management and sales team.

Required Skills & Experience

• 6+ years of relevant experience in Ocean Export Pricing within Freight Forwarding / International Logistics.
• Strong hands-on experience in Ocean Export Pricing and Rate Negotiation.
• Good knowledge of major shipping lines, trade lanes, surcharges, and ocean freight market dynamics.
• Strong experience in shipping line negotiations and vendor coordination.
• Good understanding of FCL/LCL, export processes, and commercial terms.
• Experience in handling customer pricing requests, RFQs and tenders.
• Strong customer-handling and communication skills.
• Experience supporting and working closely with Sales teams.
• Ability to participate in customer meetings and understand business requirements.
• Good commercial understanding with a focus on profitability and margins.
• Strong negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
