About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Legal Manager to manage the legal, contractual, litigation and regulatory requirements of a leading healthcare organization. The role will work closely with senior management, business functions, external legal counsel and government authorities to ensure effective legal risk management and statutory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Draft, review, vet and negotiate various commercial, healthcare and operational agreements.
  • Manage and monitor litigation and dispute resolution matters across courts, tribunals and regulatory forums.
  • Coordinate with and manage external legal counsels on ongoing litigation and legal matters.
  • Maintain a comprehensive litigation tracker / legal MIS and provide regular updates to senior management.
  • Represent the organization before courts, tribunals, government authorities, police departments and other statutory forums, wherever required.
  • Provide legal advice to management and business teams on contractual, operational and regulatory matters.
  • Identify, assess and mitigate legal and contractual risks.
  • Handle medico-legal matters, including medical negligence, consumer cases and related disputes.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable healthcare, labour, statutory and regulatory requirements.
  • Support obtaining and maintaining relevant statutory licences and registrations, including healthcare-related licences.
  • Conduct title verification, document review and legal due diligence.
  • Draft legal notices, replies, affidavits, petitions, MOUs, NDAs, service agreements, lease agreements, consultancy agreements, indemnity bonds, settlement agreements, amendments and other legal documents.
  • Review and negotiate contracts with vendors, consultants, agencies, service providers and other stakeholders.
  • Support government tenders and legal documentation.
  • Monitor changes in applicable laws and regulations and advise management on their impact.
  • Develop and maintain legal policies, SOPs, templates and compliance processes.
  • Coordinate with the Company Secretary and relevant departments for statutory and corporate compliance.
  • Conduct periodic legal reviews and internal meetings to identify upcoming legal risks and required actions.
  • Maintain proper custody, execution and archiving of legal and contractual documents.
  • Ensure timely closure and execution of agreements in coordination with business stakeholders.
  • Prepare periodic legal and litigation reports/MIS for senior leadership.

Candidate Profile

  • LL.B / B.A. LL.B from a recognized institution.
  • 8–15 years of relevant legal experience, preferably with a hospital, healthcare organization, corporate legal team or reputed law firm.
  • Strong experience in in-house legal management and litigation coordination.
  • Experience in handling healthcare/medico-legal matters will be preferred.
  • Strong drafting, contract review and negotiation skills.
  • Good understanding of Indian legal and regulatory frameworks.
  • Ability to independently manage multiple legal matters and external counsels.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder-management and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work closely with MD, CFO, senior leadership and functional heads.
