Lead Software Developer - Java

We are hiring a Lead Software Developer - Java with AWS Cloud to lead delivery of Java microservices, REST APIs, and cloud components on AWS. You will help the team resolve ambiguity, align with governance, and raise quality across code, API contracts, and data models—apply now.

Responsibilities

• Take accountability for the team’s technology deliverables and outcomes
• Provide technical vision and steer the team toward informed choices
• Resolve technology blockers encountered during the project lifecycle
• Partner with architects and the CTO organization to follow governance and best practices
• Address functional and non-functional needs while ensuring solution quality
• Evolve designs, architectures, and frameworks to improve maintainability
• Ensure high standards for data models, API contracts, architecture, frameworks, and code
• Assist with estimates, planning, prioritization, and dependency mapping
• Drive leadership and foster collaboration across teams and stakeholders
• Apply practical expertise in AWS Cloud-native microservices architecture

Requirements

• Extensive experience of 8+ years delivering front-end applications, microservices, and REST APIs
• Strong experience using Java, Node.js, and SpringBoot to build APIs and microservices
• Advanced knowledge of AWS Cloud services such as ECS, Lambda, DynamoDB, SQS, and CloudWatch
• Experience with database technologies including DynamoDB and Aurora
• Comfort working in Agile methodology and using API testing tools
• Familiarity with monitoring tools such as Splunk
• Excellent client-facing communication skills and strong presentation skills
• Detail-oriented approach with ability to work through ambiguity while staying structured
• Leadership experience coordinating across teams including Vanguard Database, the CTO organization, and API Economy initiatives
• Skill in turning technical ambiguity into clear, well-scoped solutions

Nice to have

• Working knowledge of Python
• Experience building cloud-native data pipelines
• Background linking business insight with API economy principles in delivered solutions
