Job Description & Responsibilities

About the Role -

We are looking for an experienced IFRS / Technical Accounting professional to join our team and manage complex accounting activities with a strong focus on Pension Accounting, IFRS/US GAAP, Accounting Policies, and Consolidated Reporting.

The role will work closely with internal finance teams, pension specialists, actuaries, and other stakeholders to ensure accurate, compliant, and high-quality financial reporting and accounting practices.

Key Responsibilities -

  • Manage and analyze monthly pension accounting activities in collaboration with the Pension Controller.
  • Coordinate with external actuaries on pension reporting and actuarial data requirements.
  • Support preparation of annual pension disclosure notes.
  • Develop, maintain, and update the AkzoNobel Accounting Manual and accounting policies.
  • Assess and implement new IFRS standards and relevant accounting treatments.
  • Manage and maintain the Standard Chart of Accounts (SCoA).
  • Review finance income and expenses at a consolidated level.
  • Support accounting and reporting activities related to pension and technical accounting.
  • Collaborate with Finance, Treasury, Pension, and other corporate stakeholders.
  • Ensure high standards of accuracy, compliance, risk management, and financial reporting.

What We're Looking For -

  • 8–10 years of experience in Accounting / Technical Accounting / Financial Reporting.
  • Strong expertise in IFRS and/or US GAAP.
  • Mandatory experience in Pension Accounting, with knowledge of IAS 19 and/or ASC 712/715.
  • Strong background in accounting and financial reporting.
  • Experience in accounting policies, technical accounting, or accounting manual maintenance is preferred.
  • Knowledge of consolidation and group reporting is an advantage.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage complex accounting matters, and meet strict deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail and a risk-oriented mindset.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work with stakeholders across Finance and other corporate functions.
  • University degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
