Head Supply Chain

Position:Supply Chain Head

Job Purpose To lead and manage the complete supply chain function, ensuring uninterrupted availability of raw materials, effective inventory control, timely production support, efficient logistics, and on-time delivery of finished goods to customers.

Key Responsibilities

• Supply Chain Planning
• Develop and implement effective supply chain strategies in line with production and business requirements.
• Coordinate with Production, Purchase, Stores, Sales, Finance and Logistics teams.
• Prepare material requirement and supply plans based on production schedules and customer orders.
• Ensure uninterrupted availability of critical raw materials and consumables.
• Purchase & Vendor Coordination
• Coordinate with the Purchase team for timely procurement of materials.
• Monitor supplier performance, delivery schedules, quality and commercial commitments.
• Develop and maintain a reliable supplier network.
• Follow up on pending purchase orders and critical materials.
• Inventory Management
• Monitor raw material, WIP, finished goods and consumable inventory.
• Maintain optimum stock levels and minimize excess, shortage and obsolete inventory.
• Establish and monitor minimum/maximum and reorder levels.
• Conduct regular stock reviews and coordinate physical stock verification.
• Production Coordination
• Coordinate with Production Planning to ensure material availability as per production requirements.
• Identify potential material shortages and take preventive action.
• Monitor material flow from stores to production and from production to finished-goods stores.
• Logistics & Dispatch
• Manage inbound and outbound logistics operations.
• Ensure timely dispatch of finished goods as per customer requirements.
• Coordinate with transporters and logistics partners.
• Monitor freight costs, vehicle availability and delivery status.
• Ensure proper documentation for domestic and export shipments, wherever applicable.
• Cost Control
• Identify opportunities for reduction in procurement, inventory, transportation and logistics costs.
• Monitor freight and other supply-chain-related expenses.
• Improve material utilization and reduce avoidable inventory carrying costs.
• MIS & Reporting
• Prepare regular supply-chain MIS reports for management.
• Monitor KPIs such as inventory turnover, stock ageing, OTIF delivery, supplier performance, purchase lead time and logistics cost.
• Provide management with timely information regarding critical shortages, delays and risks.
• Team Management
• Lead, guide and develop the Supply Chain, Stores, Logistics and related teams.
• Define responsibilities and performance targets for team members.
• Ensure proper coordination between departments.
