Expert / Staff-level Backend Engineer

About the Role: We are looking for an experienced Expert / Staff-level Backend Engineer to act as a technical anchor within the team, driving the design, development, and scaling of our cloud saas solution. This role is highly hands-on, requiring deep expertise in Go, distributed systems, and cloud infrastructure, along with the ability to guide engineers, influence design decisions, and ensure high-quality execution. You will play a critical role in building reliable, high-performance systems, while mentoring team members and raising the overall engineering bar.

Responsibilities

• Design and build scalable microservices and distributed systems
• Own the end-to-end development of critical components
• Ensure systems adhere to resilience, fault tolerance, and high availability principles
• Write clean, maintainable, and resilient code that meets the highest quality standards
• Collaborate closely with fellow Software Engineers and Product Managers to build and develop features
• Contribute to improvements in System reliability, clearing tech-debt etc.
• Act as a go-to person for complex technical problems
• Conduct design/code reviews and ensure engineering quality
• Guide the team on design decisions and best practices

Qualifications

• 9+ years of professional software development experience.
• A proven track record of building and maintaining systems that serve thousands of concurrent users or process millions of events per hour.
• The ability to identify and resolve bottlenecks across the stack whether it’s an unoptimized DB query, a slow API response, or a saturated message queue.
• Observability Mindset: You don't just "deploy and pray." You are proficient in using monitoring, logging, and tracing to proactively manage system health before a customer reports an issue.

Required Skills

• Expert level proficiency in Golang including concurrency, performance optimization etc.
• Strong proficiency in Java and Spring Boot
• Expertise in Microservices architecture and development
• Solid understanding of object-oriented programming and design patterns
• Strong experience with distributed systems and message queues such as Kafka
• Strong experience with both SQL and NoSQL datastores such as Postgres, ElasticSearch, Redis etc.
• Strong experience with containers and container orchestration platforms including Docker and Kubernetes
• Strong experience in AWS ecosystem

Preferred Skills

• Familiarity with OLAP systems such as Clickhouse
• Exposure to frontend technologies
• AI Development: Early adopter of AI coding tools like Claude Code and Cursor to accelerate delivery and maintain code quality
• Cybersecurity Background: Previous experience in Cyber is a massive plus
