Drupal Frontend Developer

Job Description

We're looking for a Drupal Frontend Developer with strong front-end engineering skills and solid working knowledge of Drupal to build high-quality, accessible, and performant user experiences. This is a frontend-heavy role (~70% frontend / 30% backend) — you'll spend most of your time building responsive UI, custom themes, and reusable components, while working comfortably within Drupal's backend architecture to integrate and support your front-end work.

\nKey Responsibilities

\nFrontend (Primary Focus)

\n\n • Build responsive, pixel-perfect user interfaces using HTML5, CSS3, and modern JavaScript (ES6+)

\n • Develop and maintain custom Drupal themes using Twig

\n • Build reusable, component-based UI using Single Directory Components (SDC) or similar component-driven approaches

\n • Convert Figma/design mockups into accessible, cross-browser-compatible interfaces (WCAG compliance)

\n • Optimize front-end performance (page load times, Core Web Vitals, asset/bundle optimization)

\n\nBackend (Supporting Focus)

\n\n • Develop and maintain custom Drupal modules to support front-end functionality

\n • Work on site building, configuration management, and content architecture (content types, Views)

\n • Integrate with RESTful APIs and JSON:API for front-end data consumption

\n • Troubleshoot, debug, and support Drupal upgrades

\n • Use Composer and Drush for dependency management and site operations

\n\n

\nGeneral

\n\n • Participate in code reviews and follow Git-based collaborative workflows (branching, PRs)

\n • Collaborate closely with designers, backend developers, and project managers to deliver projects on time

\n\n

\nRequired Skills & Qualifications

\n\n • 3+ years of experience in Drupal (9/10/11) development, with a strong front-end focus

\n • Strong hands-on JavaScript (ES6+) — not just jQuery-level scripting

\n • Genuine, applied experience with React or Vue.js — not certification-only knowledge

\n • Solid Twig theming and custom theme development from scratch

\n • Strong HTML5, CSS3 (SASS/SCSS a plus), responsive design, and accessibility (WCAG) skills

\n • Working knowledge of Drupal site building (content types, Views, configuration management)

\n • Basic-to-solid PHP understanding — enough to work with Drupal APIs and REST/JSON:API endpoints

\n • Familiarity with Composer, Drush, and Git-based workflows

\n • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail

\n\n

\nNice to Have

\n\n • Hands-on experience with Single Directory Components (SDC)

\n • Experience with decoupled/headless Drupal (React/Vue/Next.js front-end on a Drupal backend)

\n • Exposure to CI/CD processes and tools

\n • Component library experience (Storybook, PatternLab, or similar)

\n • Front-end performance optimization expertise (Core Web Vitals, lazy loading, bundle size)
