Job Description & Responsibilities
Job Description: Front-End Engineering Team Lead – Cornerstones Experience
Position Overview
We are looking for a hands-on Front-End Engineering Team Lead to run a squad that owns a single Experience domain — a micro-frontend (MFE) such as Checkout, Solution Builder, or a comparable slice of the Cornerstones customer journey — end to end. This is a build-it, run-it role: you and your squad take a domain from requirements through production, contribute back to shared front-end standards rather than just consuming them, and are judged on pixel-accurate, production-grade customer experience, not on completed tickets. We are specifically looking for engineers with real front-end craft — the kind of attention to pixel-perfect detail and micro-interaction polish that a purely back-end or integration-focused profile won't have.
Leadership & Management Skills
- Squad Leadership: Lead a cross-functional squad (front-end engineers, QE) through delivery of your owned domain, keeping the team focused on a clear, business-defined outcome rather than a backlog of disconnected tickets.
- Technical Mentorship: Coach engineers on both craft and judgment, run constructive code and design reviews, and raise the bar on pixel-level and interaction-level quality across the squad.
- Execution & Initiative: Break down business requirements into technical tasks scoped correctly against the shell/MFE/domain boundaries and take initiative rather than waiting for direction — this includes joining calls with other domain teams or Salesforce counterparts when your work crosses a boundary.
- Standards Contribution: Contribute to and help evolve shared front-end practice (API conventions, front-end standards, the module catalogue) rather than treating standards as something handed down top-down — proposals for shared components go through the Web Fabric team.
- Culture: Champion a lean, low-bureaucracy way of working: your squad should feel like a startup pod inside a large enterprise, not a back-office execution team.
- Ownership Mentality: Full ownership mentality for what your domain ships — "you build it, you run it" — including production stability once it's live.
Technical Skills & Acumen
- Front-End Craft: Deep, hands-on proficiency building a micro-frontend within a federated architecture: React 19, Tan Stack Router and Query, and a component structure grouped by capability (components, hooks, services, translations) rather than by file type.
- Design System Fluency: Fluency with the shared design system tiers — Brand UI for visual/brand primitives, Product UI for recurring commerce/account patterns — and the judgment to know which tier a new component belongs in, and when something should be promoted for reuse by other domains.
- Tooling & Testing: Working knowledge of the shared tooling every domain repository consumes: Rs pack builds, ESLint/Prettier/TypeScript standards, Vitest real-browser-mode testing, visual regression, and a typed API client generated from the platform's API contracts.
- DevOps Practices: Comfort with the CI/CD guardrail pipeline (formatting, linting, security and dependency scanning, live review environments) that enforces standards automatically rather than through review meetings.
- Quality & Testing: Strong advocacy for test-driven development, unit and browser-mode testing, and getting early testing in front of real usage so the squad ships better software with fewer defects.
- AI-Assisted Delivery: Working familiarity with AI-assisted delivery tools (planning agents, coding/delivery agents) to move faster without sacrificing quality.
- Content & Data Awareness: Basic fluency in how your domain's data and content are sourced — cached API calls to the platform's typed client, content from Content stack, and (for marketing-adjacent surfaces) page composition in Uniform — enough to reason about caching, freshness, and where a fix belongs.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of hands-on software development experience, with at least 4+ years in a technical lead or team lead capacity.
- Proven track record delivering high-quality, pixel-accurate, scalable front-end experiences in an enterprise environment.
- Direct experience with a modern component framework (React strongly preferred) and, ideally, a federated/micro-frontend or module-federation architecture.
- Strong problem-solving and debugging skills, and comfort operating with autonomy in a low-process environment.
