ABOUT THE ROLE

Script Assist is hiring a Full-Stack Engineer with strong production experience in Node.js, TypeScript and React to build and evolve a complex multi-tenant B2B SaaS platform used by UK clinics, pharmacies and operational teams.

We are looking for engineers with approximately 3–5 years of professional experience who have worked inside a real shared SaaS product — not just simple CRUD applications or separate bespoke projects for individual clients.

This is an AI-first engineering environment. We expect engineers to use modern AI coding agents throughout the development lifecycle — from understanding unfamiliar code and planning changes to implementation, testing, debugging and reviewing results.

AI should accelerate your work, while you remain responsible for ensuring that the software is correct, safe and maintainable.

ABOUT SCRIPT ASSIST

Script Assist is a UK healthcare technology company building software and operational infrastructure for complex private clinical and pharmacy services.

Our platform

• Supports tens of thousands of recurring subscriptions each month alongside high-volume clinical and pharmacy workflows.
• Supports multiple medications, treatment pathways, clinics, pharmacies, prescribers, patients and operational teams within one shared platform.
• Covers prescribing, patient onboarding, medication workflows, dispensing, inventory, subscriptions, payments, fulfilment, communications, reporting, permissions and external integrations.
• Supports different organisational configurations and workflows while keeping the underlying product reliable, secure and maintainable.

This is not a prototype or a simple dashboard product. Features interact with permissions, tenant configuration, existing workflows, integrations and production data.

Healthcare experience is not required. Experience building genuinely complex software is.

WHAT YOU WILL BUILD

• Backend services and business logic using Node.js, NestJS and TypeScript.
• React and TypeScript interfaces used by real operational teams.
• Multi-tenant features with correct tenant isolation and tenant-specific configuration.
• Stateful workflows involving multiple stages, roles, permissions and exception paths.
• REST APIs, third-party integrations, webhooks and asynchronous/background processing.
• Reliable product behaviour around retries, validation, edge cases and partial failures.
• Features across subscriptions, payments, pharmacy operations, inventory, fulfilment and clinical workflows.
• Automated tests and observability that make production changes safer.

MULTI-TENANT SAAS EXPERIENCE

Multi-tenant SaaS experience is a core requirement for this role.

We are looking for candidates who have actually developed a production product used by multiple customer organisations.

You should have experience with

• A shared product and codebase used by multiple tenants/customers.
• Tenant-aware data access or isolation.
• Different permissions, roles, configurations or feature access between tenants.
• Customer-specific behaviour without creating a completely separate product for every client.
• Several interconnected modules, workflows or integrations.
• Production releases where changes needed to remain compatible with existing customers.

Important: Working on multiple separate client projects does not automatically mean you have multi-tenant SaaS experience. We will ask you to explain how tenancy worked in the product you built.

AI-FIRST ENGINEERING

We are looking for engineers whose development workflow has materially changed because of AI.

AI should be a regular implementation tool, not something used only occasionally to explain an error.

You will use AI to

• Understand – Inspect unfamiliar modules, trace code paths and understand existing patterns.
• Plan – Break requirements into implementation steps, identify dependencies and consider edge cases.
• Implement – Generate substantial implementation work rather than manually typing routine code.
• Test – Create and extend unit, integration and edge-case test coverage.
• Debug – Analyse errors, logs, failing tests and unfamiliar execution paths.
• Verify – Review diffs, run tests and validate behaviour yourself.

AI output is never accepted blindly. You remain accountable for the quality, correctness and maintainability of your work.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

• 3–5 years of professional software engineering experience.
• 2+ years of hands-on production Node.js development.
• 2+ years of production React / React.js development.
• 2+ years of production TypeScript development.
• Real experience building a multi-tenant SaaS product.
• Strong understanding of backend business logic, APIs, databases and production debugging.
• Experience owning features end-to-end rather than only implementing small isolated tickets.
• Clear written and spoken English.
• Strong AI-assisted engineering experience across planning, implementation, testing and debugging.

NICE TO HAVE

• NestJS, Express or Fastify.
• PostgreSQL, MongoDB or another production database.
• Redis, queues, background jobs or event-driven processing.
• REST APIs, GraphQL, webhooks and third-party integrations.
• Docker, CI/CD and cloud environments.
• RBAC, permissions, feature flags and tenant configuration.
• Testing, logging, monitoring and production incident investigation.

We do not require experience with one particular cloud, database or queue technology. We care more about the quality and complexity of the systems you have actually built.
