Job Description & Responsibilities

LaSalle Network is partnering with our client to hire a Data Scientist in Wood Dale, IL for a direct hire opportunity supporting an AI-driven aviation market intelligence platform. Our client is building a new data platform with an MVP targeted within the next six months, creating a fast-paced environment where this Data Scientist will help set analytical direction and deliver real business impact. In this role, the Data Scientist will design and deploy scalable machine learning models while collaborating closely with product, engineering, and data teams. This is an exciting chance for a Data Scientist who thrives in ambiguity, can translate technical work to business stakeholders, and wants to be a key voice in shaping a new platform.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and own scalable analytical and machine learning models for market sizing, forecasting, opportunity identification, and optimization use cases
  • Translate ambiguous business problems into structured modeling approaches, including feature engineering, model selection, and evaluation frameworks
  • Design and analyze experiments, statistical tests, and validation methods to measure model quality and business impact
  • Deploy and integrate models into production systems with data engineering and backend teams, ensuring reliability, scalability, and performance
  • Monitor, validate, and improve model performance through testing, retraining, versioning, and feedback loops
  • Partner with product teams to define analytical features, influence roadmap decisions, and embed model-driven insights into workflows

Qualifications

  • Strong foundation in statistics, machine learning, and predictive modeling (e.g., regression, classification, clustering, time series, and experiment design)
  • Proficiency in Python and SQL, including experience with common ML libraries (e.g., scikit-learn, pandas, NumPy)
  • Experience building end-to-end ML workflows (data preprocessing, feature engineering, model training/evaluation, deployment, and monitoring)
  • Ability to clearly communicate model logic, assumptions, and outputs to non-technical stakeholders
  • Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field (Master's preferred)
  • 3-5+ years of experience in data science, machine learning, or advanced analytics in a product- or business-driven environment
