Cloud Engineer IV

Summary

The engineer will work alongside the Center of Excellence (CoE) team to design, build, and migrate application workloads onto Google Cloud Platform (GCP), applying established cloud architecture patterns and modernization standards.

Responsibilities

• Provision and configure GCP services such as GKE, Cloud Run, Compute Engine, Cloud Storage, Pub/Sub, Cloud SQL, IAM, VPC networking, and related components.
• Author infrastructure-as-code and set up CI/CD pipelines.
• Implement observability, security, and cost-optimization practices across the environment.
• Document reference architectures, reusable patterns, and best practices for adoption by teams across the organization.

Requirements

• Demonstrable hands-on GCP experience.
• Fluency with core cloud terminology, concepts, and platform setup, including projects and organization hierarchy, and deployment models.
• Strong application development experience on GCP using Java (Spring Boot/microservices, containerization, and GCP client libraries and SDKs).

Required Skills

• Hands-on experience with GCP services and infrastructure.
• Proficiency in Java for application development on GCP.
• Experience in platform engineering and application migration/re-platforming.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with CI/CD pipeline setup and management.
• Knowledge of implementing observability and security best practices.
• Understanding of cost-optimization strategies in cloud environments.
