Job Description & Responsibilities

We are looking for an experienced Business Development Manager with strong expertise in US Staffing and Pharma/Life Sciences recruitment to drive new client acquisition and business growth. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of creating leads, developing client relationships, and winning new staffing accounts, particularly through MSP/VMS programs.

The candidate should have strong knowledge of the US staffing market and experience engaging with Pharmaceutical, Biotechnology, Medical Device, Clinical Research, and Life Sciences organizations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute business development strategies to acquire new Pharma/Life Sciences staffing clients in the US market.
  • Generate qualified leads through cold calling, email campaigns, LinkedIn, networking, referrals, market research, and targeted prospecting.
  • Build and maintain relationships with Pharma companies, biotech organizations, CROs, healthcare organizations, and staffing procurement teams.
  • Identify and pursue new MSP/VMS staffing opportunities and establish relationships with MSP program managers, procurement teams, and hiring stakeholders.
  • Develop business through major VMS/MSP programs, RFPs, RFIs, vendor onboarding, and direct client relationships.
  • Identify decision-makers including Talent Acquisition, Procurement, HR, Vendor Managers, and MSP Program Managers.
  • Convert leads into qualified opportunities, client meetings, contracts, and revenue-generating accounts.
  • Develop and maintain a strong sales pipeline and consistently achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual business development targets.
  • Conduct market research to identify new accounts, hiring trends, projects, and staffing requirements.
  • Collaborate with recruiting and delivery teams to understand candidate availability, skill sets, rates, and client requirements.
  • Negotiate MSAs, SOWs, staffing agreements, pricing, and commercial terms as required.
  • Maintain accurate records of prospects, opportunities, client interactions, and sales activities in the CRM.
  • Monitor competitor activity and market trends within the US Pharma and Life Sciences staffing industry.

Required Experience & Skills

  • 5+ years of Business Development/Sales experience in US Staffing, preferably within Pharma/Life Sciences.
  • Strong, proven experience in lead generation and new client acquisition.
  • Demonstrated ability to build a pipeline from scratch and convert prospects into active staffing clients.
  • Hands-on experience working with MSP and VMS clients/programs.
  • Strong understanding of the US staffing ecosystem, MSP/VMS models, vendor management, procurement, and staffing programs.
  • Existing relationships/network with Pharma, Biotech, Medical Device, CRO, and Life Sciences clients is highly desirable.
  • Experience selling contract, contract-to-hire, direct-hire, and/or SOW staffing solutions.
  • Strong knowledge of US market business development practices and staffing sales cycles.
  • Excellent cold-calling, prospecting, negotiation, presentation, and relationship-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently, meet aggressive sales targets, and manage multiple opportunities simultaneously.
  • Experience using LinkedIn, CRM systems, job boards, prospecting databases, and other lead-generation tools.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a hunter-style Business Development professional who can independently identify target Pharma accounts, generate leads, reach decision-makers, navigate MSP/VMS environments, and convert prospects into long-term staffing partnerships.

  • Strong preference for candidates who can demonstrate an existing US Pharma/Life Sciences client network and a measurable track record of new-account acquisition.
