Backend Developer - NestJS & TypeScript

Job DescriptionBackend Developer – NestJS & TypeScript Location: India – Remote Experience: 1–3 years Compensation: Open – commensurate with experience Working Hours: 8:00 AM–4:00 PM US Eastern Time Team: Peer Consulting Resources – Product Development Reports to: Systems Architecture Lead / India Team Lead About the Role: Peer Consulting Resources is looking for a Backend Developer with strong hands-on experience in NestJS, TypeScript, Prisma ORM, and PostgreSQL to join our Product Development team.

You will help build and maintain secure, scalable backend services for a modern learning platform used by administrators, teachers, and students. The platform includes course creation, assessments, dashboards, and an integrated AI learning assistant. You will work closely with the frontend development team to build REST APIs, maintain API contracts, implement authentication and authorization, and ensure reliable application performance and security.

Candidates must be available to work remotely from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM US Eastern Time .

Key Responsibilities

Develop and maintain secure, scalable REST APIs using NestJS and TypeScript. Build modular backend services following NestJS architecture and best practices. Design and manage PostgreSQL databases using Prisma ORM.

Create and maintain database schemas, relationships, and migrations. Implement JWT authentication, refresh-token mechanisms, and role-based access control. Implement request validation, rate limiting, secure file uploads, and error handling.

Write and maintain unit and end-to-end tests using Jest. Debug, optimize, and maintain existing backend services. Collaborate with frontend developers to define and maintain API contracts. Participate in code reviews and follow secure coding practices.

Document APIs, backend workflows, and technical decisions.

Required Skills

Node.js and TypeScript NestJS Prisma ORM PostgreSQL REST API development JWT and refresh-token authentication Role-based access control and authorization Jest and end-to-end testing Git and GitHub Understanding of backend security and API best practices Experience: 1–3 years of backend development experience. Hands-on experience building backend applications using NestJS and TypeScript. Candidates with strong and demonstrable project experience will also be considered.
