Backend & AI Infrastructure Developer/Engineer (Python / FastAPI / Django)

About the Role

We are looking for a heavy-hitting Backend Engineer to build the "brains" of our AI-powered analytics platform. You will design the architecture that handles heavy asynchronous data processing, machine learning model integrations, and vector searches. If you enjoy building rock-solid APIs, managing high-throughput background tasks, and optimizing complex database queries, this role is for you.

Key Responsibilities

• API Development: Architect and maintain high-performance, secure backend services and RESTful APIs using Python (FastAPI or Django).
• Asynchronous Data Pipelines: Build and scale distributed task queues using Celery and Redis to handle heavy background computations and AI processing without lagging the core app.
• AI & Vector Databases: Implement and optimize vector similarity searches using Pinecone or pgvector to power our AI recommendation and embedding engines.
• Database Management: Structure complex relational schemas and optimize query performance in PostgreSQL.
• Security & Authentication: Implement robust security protocols, data encryption, and secure user authentication (JWT, OAuth).
• DevOps & Cloud: Deploy, scale, and monitor backend services on cloud infrastructure (AWS or Google Cloud Platform).

Requirements & Technical Skills

• Core Language: 4+ years of expert-level programming experience in Python.
• Frameworks: Extensive experience building production-ready apps with FastAPI or Django / Django REST Framework.
• Data Processing: Deep understanding of distributed systems, specifically task queues using Celery and Redis.
• Databases: Advanced knowledge of PostgreSQL (indexing, optimization) and experience with vector databases like Pinecone or PostgreSQL extensions like pgvector.
• AI Concepts: Familiarity working with LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic), vector embeddings, and semantic search workflows.

Best Practices: Strong background in writing clean, testable code (PyTest), CI/CD pipelines, Docker, and API documentation (Swagger/Postman).
