API Automation Test Engineer (Rest Assured + Java)

Hiring an API Automation Test Engineer with 5–10 years’ experience to analyze API specs (Swagger/OpenAPI) and build/maintain automated API test frameworks using Rest Assured with Java. The role covers functional/integration/regression/negative/E2E API testing, validation of HTTP methods/status codes/headers/payloads/auth, JSON/XML and database validation via SQL, plus CI/CD integration (Jenkins, GitHub/GitLab) and defect/root-cause analysis in an Agile environment.

Responsibilities

• Analyse API specifications, business requirements and Swagger/OpenAPI documentation.
• Design and execute functional, integration, regression, negative and end-to-end API test scenarios.
• Develop and maintain API automation frameworks using Rest Assured with Java.
• Perform API validation using Postman, SoapUI or similar tools.
• Validate HTTP methods, response codes, headers, payloads, authentication and authorization.
• Validate JSON/XML responses, database records and data integrity using SQL.
• Implement reusable automation components and BDD frameworks using Cucumber where applicable.
• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitHub or GitLab.
• Identify defects, analyse failures, perform root-cause analysis and coordinate with development teams.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies, test planning, reviews and release validation.
