- Provide technical leadership within a matrix management function whereby you will have dotted (indirect) line reporting of the DevOps engineers. In practice this means that you will have responsibility and authority for the technical remit of the DevOps engineers but not have line management responsibilities freeing you up to focus on adding value within the technical domain as an individual contributor.
- Be hands-on using a wide range of Microsoft Azure technologies such as Azure Kubernetes Service, Azure Key Vault, Azure Service Bus etc. In addition, project management in an agile scrum format, source control (git), build and deployment are handled within Azure DevOps. Evaluate the technical landscape taking ownership and accountability of the cloud infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines ensuring standards are set and maintained in line with the Head of Architecture and Regional Architects.
- Ensure Alerting and Monitoring of the current Infrastructure.
- Propose solutions for automation for build, test and deploy of Infra components and ensure that they are followed.
- Work collaboratively with the Group Director of Architecture, Head of Architecture, and fellow architects to influence and steer technical leads as well as their teams towards pragmatic decisions as well as communicate team progress.
- Undertake R&D, prototype new approaches, technologies, techniques and ensure knowledge sharing to streams.
Continuous Improvement: advances by ongoing, incremental improvement through continuous learning, pair-programming, questioning the status quo and trying out creative and novel ideas. Pragmatic in approach, understanding that software and its architecture are fundamentally about trade-offs. Ability to work in a team of very experienced individuals, understands that egos are not productive, ability to listen and provide objective feedback.
