Software Tester (QA Engineer)

Role OverviewGenius HRTech Limited is hiring a Software Tester / QA Engineer to strengthen its quality assurance team in Kolkata. This role is suited to professionals with 4 to 5 years of experience who can ensure reliable software delivery through structured testing and defect management.

What You Will DoCreate detailed test plans, test cases, and testing scenarios for new and existing functionality.Carry out functional, integration, regression, and system-level testing.Find, record, monitor, and retest defects across the software development lifecycle.Work closely with developers, business analysts, and product stakeholders to support quality-focused releases.Check APIs and backend services for stability, accuracy, and performance.Take part in Agile/Scrum meetings and contribute to ongoing quality improvement efforts.Skills and Experience NeededThe ideal candidate should have a solid grasp of QA concepts and testing approaches such as Black Box and Grey Box testing. Prior experience in Agile/Scrum teams is important, along with practical exposure to API testing using tools like Postman or SoapUI. Familiarity with defect tracking and test management platforms such as Jira, Azure DevOps, Bugzilla, or Zephyr is preferred. Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving ability are also essential.

Preferred Technical KnowledgeBasic to intermediate database knowledge will be an advantage. The role also benefits from the ability to write SQL queries for validating backend data, preparing test data, and verifying database results.

ResponsibilitiesPrepare and maintain test plans, test scenarios, and test cases for the application under test.Execute different types of testing, including functional, integration, regression, and system testing.Log defects accurately, follow them through the resolution cycle, and confirm fixes after retesting.Coordinate with development, business, and product teams to support timely and high-quality releases.Test APIs and backend services to confirm reliability and performance.Participate actively in Agile/Scrum activities and support continuous quality enhancement.
