Software Technical Lead

About the role

We're looking for a hands-on Technical Lead to drive the design and delivery of our AI systems. This is a builder's role: you architect solutions and stay in the codebase. You'll set the technical direction, raise the engineering bar, and take AI capabilities from concept to production.

What you'll own

• Architect end-to-end AI/ML systems — data pipelines, model integration, orchestration, and evaluation.
• Write and review production code; lead by doing, not just directing.
• Translate ambiguous business requirements into scalable technical designs.
• Lead design reviews, set coding and architecture standards, and mentor engineers.
• Make build-vs-buy and model-selection decisions, owning the trade-offs.
• Ensure systems are reliable, cost-efficient, and production-grade — not demos.

What you must bring

• 5–10 years building production software, with recent hands-on AI/ML delivery.
• Experience shipping real machine-learning or LLM systems to production users.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals: Python or Node.js, APIs, databases, cloud infrastructure.
• Solid system design — you can justify architecture trade-offs, not just diagram them.
• Proven ability to lead small teams and deliver end-to-end with limited direction.

Strong plus

• Experience with LLMs, RAG, prompt engineering, evals, or agentic frameworks.
• Cloud platform depth (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and MLOps practices.
• Vector databases, data engineering, or model fine-tuning experience.
• Domain experience relevant to our product.

Not a fit if you

• Are a manager who no longer writes code.
• Have only built proofs-of-concept or notebooks, never production systems.
• Need fully defined specs and a large team before you can deliver.
