Job Overview

We are looking for an experienced Senior WordPress Developer with 6+ years of hands-on experience in WordPress development, custom theme/plugin development, and backend engineering. The ideal candidate should have strong expertise in PHP, WordPress architecture, database management, API integrations, and performance optimisation.

The candidate will be responsible for developing scalable WordPress solutions, managing complex websites, troubleshooting technical issues, and building custom functionalities according to business requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, customise, and maintain advanced WordPress websites.
• Build custom WordPress themes and plugins from scratch.
• Strong understanding of WordPress Core architecture, hooks, filters, actions, and APIs.
• Develop custom backend functionalities using PHP and MySQL.
• Create and manage custom post types, taxonomies, metadata, and database structures.
• Develop REST API integrations and custom endpoints.
• Work with security customisation, payment gateway integrations, and eCommerce solutions.
• Optimise website performance, security, and scalability.
• Debug complex WordPress, PHP, JavaScript, and database issues.
• Perform malware/security audits and implement WordPress security best practices.
• Manage website migrations, backups, staging environments, and server configurations.
• Integrate third-party APIs and external services.
• Collaborate with designers, frontend developers, and project managers.
• Write clean, reusable, and maintainable code following WordPress coding standards.

Required Technical Skills

WordPress Development

• 6+ years of professional WordPress development experience.
• Advanced knowledge of WordPress Core.
• Custom Theme Development.
• Custom Plugin Development.
• Elementor / WPBakery / Gutenberg experience.
• Advanced Custom Fields (ACF), Custom Post Types, Taxonomies.
• WordPress Multisite experience is a plus.

Backend Development

• Strong PHP (OOP concepts) knowledge.
• MySQL database design and optimisation.
• WordPress database structure expertise.
• REST API development and integration.
• AJAX, JSON, and XML handling.
• Cron Jobs and background processes.
• Server-side debugging.

Frontend Knowledge

• Strong understanding of HTML5 and CSS3.
• JavaScript / jQuery experience.
• Responsive design implementation.
• Basic knowledge of modern frontend frameworks is a plus.

Security & Performance

• WordPress security hardening.
• Malware detection and cleanup.
• Firewall and security plugin configuration.
