Senior Data Engineer Python/Snowflake (7–10 years)

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Senior Data Engineer to lead the design, architecture, and optimization of enterprise-scale data platforms on Snowflake. This role requires deep technical expertise, strong leadership skills, and the ability to drive best practices across engineering teams.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Architect end-to-end data platforms on Snowflake, including database design, warehouse strategy, and cost governance
• Design and implement complex ELT/ETL pipelines using Python, Snowpark, and orchestration frameworks (Airflow, dbt)
• Define and enforce data modeling standards (Star Schema, Data Vault, dimensional modeling)
• Lead performance tuning initiatives — clustering strategies, query optimization, micro-partition management
• Design and implement data security frameworks — RBAC, row-level security, dynamic data masking, network policies
• Establish CI/CD pipelines for automated testing and deployment of data workflows
• Mentor junior and mid-level engineers; conduct design/code reviews and enforce engineering best practices
• Partner with architects, product managers, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable technical solutions
• Evaluate and adopt new Snowflake capabilities (Snowpark, Dynamic Tables, Cortex, Streams/Tasks) to modernize the platform
• Own incident management, root cause analysis, and disaster recovery planning
• Drive cost optimization initiatives — monitor credit consumption, right-size warehouses, implement resource monitors
• Provide technical leadership across multiple projects and cross-functional teams

Required Skills

• 7–10 years of experience in data engineering, with 4+ years in Snowflake
• Expert-level SQL and Python skills
• Deep understanding of Snowflake architecture, performance tuning, and cost optimization
• Strong experience with orchestration tools (Airflow, dbt) and CI/CD pipelines
• Experience with data governance, security frameworks, and compliance requirements
• Proven leadership/mentoring experience
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
