Apply(This will open in a new window from which you will be automatically redirected to an external site after 5 seconds) Role : Senior Accountant Job Description About the Role Morningstar is looking for a Finance Manager for our Nordic & Central region to join our global Finance team, which is focused on business partnership, innovation, automation, and process improvement. As the Finance Manager, you will support Morningstar’s local financial reporting and accounting, appropriate for a publicly traded U.S. corporation, for our operations in the region. Reporting to Morningstar’s Controller - EMEA Central & Nordics, this role will also support the processing, planning, forecasting, and analysis of the company’s local financial results, while working collaboratively with business groups and other areas of the Finance team to provide financial insight and decision-making support.
This role requires close partnership with stakeholders across the region, strong coordination across multiple legal entities and external advisers, and the ability to operate effectively in a cross-border, multinational environment. This role is an excellent opportunity to develop expertise across the controllership functions while working closely with experienced finance professionals. The position is based in our Mumbai office, with a 4 day in office hybrid working arrangement.
Job Responsibilities
Support month-end and quarter-end close processes for the regional entities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analysis.
Lead an efficient financial reporting process and month-end close to produce timely and accurate financial reports reflecting Morningstar's global accounting policies.
Maintain and champion internal controls and processes appropriate for a U.S. publicly traded company to achieve global harmonization.
Partner closely with regional leadership and key department heads, providing clear, insightful commentary and analysis on key performance variances to support decision-making.
Oversee statutory reporting requirements in the region, including financial statements, tax returns & regulatory submissions, to ensure timely submission and compliance with local regulations.
Lead and oversee various country projects and participate in global transformation projects, including system implementations, M&A activities, automation initiatives and process improvements.
Coordinate with local external advisers for various activities, including audit, tax, payroll, insurance, and other compliance activities.
Drive coordination across multiple countries, legal entities, and time zones, ensuring smooth execution of close, reporting, audit, and compliance activities.
Perform other duties as assigned including the preparation of accounting memorandums and local policy documentation Qualifications Minimum of 5+ years of progressive experience in the Accounting/Finance function, preferably at a U.S. multinational organization or Big 4 Accounting firm.
A degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; qualified in CA, ACCA, CPA or equivalent is preferred.
Experience in closing, consolidation, and reporting across multiple legal entities in a multinational environment; knowledge of internal control over financial reporting requirements appropriate for a U.S. publicly traded company.
Exposure to statutory reporting, audit coordination, and local compliance requirements across different jurisdictions, ideally within EMEA or other international structures.
Detail-oriented and motivated individual with a willingness to learn and manage tasks effectively.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with international stakeholders in a remote, matrixed environment.
Knowledge of US GAAP; familiarity with local-GAAP / IFRS is a plus.
Experience with or eager to learn how to work with Oracle Financial Systems and Hyperion Financial Management.
Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with a proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
Ability to multi-task and manage shifting priorities and deadlines.
Demonstrated ownership mindset, sound judgment, and the ability to operate independently while collaborating across countries and functions.
