Role Description The Python Scratch and Machine Learning Instructor at FcC is a part-time, remote role focused on teaching coding and introductory machine learning concepts to learners ages 5–18. Day-to-day responsibilities include planning and delivering live online classes in Python and Scratch, creating age-appropriate lesson materials and exercises, and explaining core computational and algorithmic concepts in a clear and engaging way. The instructor will guide students through practical coding projects, introduce basic statistics and machine learning ideas, and adapt teaching methods to different skill levels. Additional tasks include monitoring student progress, providing constructive feedback, communicating with caregivers as needed, and collaborating with the FcC team to continuously improve curriculum and teaching practices.

Qualifications

• Strong foundation in Computer Science and Algorithms, with the ability to explain core concepts in an age-appropriate manner.
• Practical experience with Machine Learning and Deep Learning, including familiarity with introductory ML workflows and tools.
• Solid understanding of Statistics, particularly concepts relevant to data analysis and basic ML applications.
• Proficiency in Python programming and experience teaching or using Scratch for beginner-friendly coding instruction.
• Prior teaching, tutoring, or mentoring experience with children or teens in STEM or coding subjects.
• Excellent spoken and written communication skills in English, with a patient, inclusive, and learner-centered approach.
• Reliable high-speed internet connection and comfort with virtual classroom tools and online collaboration platforms.
• Bachelor’s degree (or ongoing studies) in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
