Expression of Interest for Project Research Recruitment, IIT Bombay in Meity Funded PUSHAPAK Project

We are inviting expression of interest for the different positions.

Ideal Candidate

Strong interest in traffic analysis, transportation systems, statistical modelling, computer vision-based video and image processing, and machine learning techniques for mobility research.

Passion for working with large-scale Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV)-based traffic data collection, data processing and video analytics.

Enthusiasm for research, field experiments, and working with real-world transportation datasets using data-driven approaches.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

Conduct UAV/drone-based traffic video data collection, data preprocessing, video frame extraction, and annotation for transportation studies.

Perform vehicle/pedestrian detection, tracking, and trajectory extraction using computer vision and machine learning techniques for microscopic and macroscopic traffic analysis.

Subsequently, conduct traffic engineering and GIS-based analysis for congestion and road safety studies, while supporting technical documentation, field surveys, and transportation research activities.

Application of machine learning/deep learning techniques such as YOLO, DeepSORT, and ByteTrack, along with GIS and database tools including QGIS and SQL, for transportation research and traffic analytics.

🎓 Eligibility

Position 1: Developer Position

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science Engineering, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AI/ML), Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline with at least 2 years of relevant experience, OR a Master’s degree in any of the above disciplines.

Position 2: Project Research Assistant

Master’s degree in Transportation Engineering preferably having experience or masters projected in the related area.

Position 3: Project Research Associate

Master’s degree in Computer science engineering, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AI/ML), Computer Vision, Data Science, or a related field with at least 2 years of relevant experience.

Position 4: Project Research Scientist / Project Manager

PhD in Transportation Engineering, Computer Science Engineering, AI/ML (Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning), Computer Vision, Data Science, or related fields. Candidates with 4–5 years of relevant experience after a Master’s degree are also eligible.
