Job Description & Responsibilities

Middleware devops engineer

Contract

Pan India

Middleware Administration

Strong hands-on experience in middleware platforms such as WebLogic, WebSphere, JBoss, Apache Tomcat, Apache HTTP Server, Nginx, or equivalent.

Experience in installation, configuration, upgrade, patching, SSL certificate renewal, clustering, deployment, and performance tuning of middleware components.

Good knowledge of application server logs, JVM parameters, thread dumps, heap dumps, data source configuration, connection pools, and troubleshooting production issues.

Jenkins & CI/CD Pipeline

Strong command of Jenkins administration including jobs, folders, credentials, plugins, agents, shared libraries, pipeline syntax, and Jenkins file management.

Design, build, and maintain CI/CD pipelines for automated build, test, code quality scan, artifact management, deployment, rollback, and release activities.

Hands-on experience integrating Jenkins with Git, Maven/Gradle, Nexus/Artifactory, SonarQube, Docker/Kubernetes, Ansible, and notification tools as applicable.

DevOps Automation & Scripting

Good experience in DevOps practices, automation procedures, source code management, branching strategies, pull requests, and release governance.

Ability to automate repetitive operational tasks using Shell scripting, Groovy, Python basics, YAML, Ansible playbooks, or equivalent automation tools.

Experience in creating reusable pipeline templates, standard build/deployment frameworks, and environment-specific configuration management.

Linux, Deployment & Release Support

Good knowledge of Linux commands, filesystem, process management, user permissions, cron jobs, service management, network troubleshooting, and log analysis.

Experience supporting production and non-production deployments, release windows, application restarts, rollback planning, and change implementation.

Ability to coordinate with development, QA, release, infrastructure, database, network, and security teams for end-to-end delivery.

Monitoring, Security & Compliance

Experience with monitoring and alerting tools for application availability, middleware health, server resource utilization, and pipeline status.

Ensure secure handling of credentials, certificates, access control, audit evidence, change records, and compliance requirements throughout deployment lifecycle.

Ability to troubleshoot complex incidents, perform root cause analysis, document findings, and drive permanent remediation actions.

Key responsibilities

Administer and support OpenShift Container Platform (OCP)

Manage and support WebSphere Application Server (Traditional & ND) and WebSphere Liberty.

Work with Jenkins pipelines for deployment automation.

Use Git/Bitbucket for version control.

Develop and maintain Shell scripts for automation.

Support AWS services: EC2, S3, Lambda, ECS, ACM, Load Balancer, Auto Scaling.

Handle production support, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.

Provide day-to-day middleware, DevOps, CI/CD, and Jenkins operational support across production and non-production environments.

Install, configure, patch, upgrade, and maintain middleware components including WebLogic, WebSphere, JBoss, Tomcat, Apache, Nginx, or equivalent tools.

Design, build, enhance, and maintain Jenkins jobs and pipelines for build, test, deploy, rollback, environment validation, and release automation.

Manage CI/CD integrations with Git repositories, build tools, artifact repositories, code quality tools, container platforms, and automation frameworks.

Troubleshoot failed builds, deployment errors, middleware startup issues, application connectivity issues, SSL issues, and performance bottlenecks.

Maintain source control standards, branching strategies, Jenkins shared libraries, pipeline templates, and deployment documentation.

Support production deployments, emergency changes, release validation, rollback activities, and post-deployment monitoring.

Automate manual operational tasks using Shell, Groovy, Python basics, YAML, Ansible, or equivalent scripting approaches.

Ensure security best practices, compliance checks, credential management, certificate lifecycle management, and audit readiness are followed.

Create and maintain SOPs, runbooks, known error documents, implementation plans, and operational handover documents.

Collaborate with application, infrastructure, database, network, security, and vendor teams for issue resolution and delivery improvements.

Participate in incident, problem, change, release, and DR activities as per ITIL process and account governance requirements.

Identify automation opportunities, process gaps, recurring incidents, and propose improvement or remediation plans.

Track assigned tasks, provide accurate updates, follow SLA timelines, and escalate risks or dependencies proactively.

Strong hands-on experience in OpenShift (OCP)

Experience with WebSphere .
