Lead DevOps Engineer

Role Overview

As Lead DevOps Engineer, you will own the infrastructure automation, CI/CD, and reliability strategy for our trading platform, while building and mentoring a team of DevOps engineers. You will work closely with engineering, research, and trading teams to design, implement, and scale robust infrastructure and automation solutions, and set the technical direction and best practices for the DevOps function.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and grow a team of DevOps and automation engineers, setting priorities and providing technical guidance.
• Own the architecture and roadmap for infrastructure, CI/CD, and monitoring systems across the organization.
• Design and implement CI/CD pipelines to streamline build, test, and deployment processes at scale.
• Drive infrastructure automation using IaC (e.g. Terraform, Ansible) across cloud and on-premises environments.
• Establish and enforce best practices for reliability, security, and compliance across all infrastructure and deployment workflows.
• Collaborate with development, QA, research, and trading teams to translate requirements into scalable technical solutions.
• Own incident response strategy: build automated monitoring, alerting, and escalation processes, and lead root cause analysis for critical incidents.
• Manage on-call rotations for the team and act as an escalation point for production issues.
• Own documentation standards for infrastructure, processes, and configurations, ensuring knowledge sharing and compliance readiness.
• Partner with leadership on hiring, performance management, and capacity planning for the DevOps function.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience as a DevOps/Infrastructure Engineer, including experience leading or mentoring a team.
• Proven track record of owning infrastructure architecture and driving automation initiatives end-to-end.
• Strong proficiency in scripting/programming languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
• Deep hands-on expertise with CI/CD tools (Jenkins) and version control systems (Git).
• Strong experience with containerization and orchestration tools (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Solid understanding of networking, security, and compliance standards.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to operate in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
• Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills, both written and verbal.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with monitoring and logging tools (CheckMk, Grafana, Prometheus, custom solutions).
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, Ansible).
• Knowledge of database management systems (SQL, NoSQL).
• Understanding of fintech regulatory requirements and best practices.
• Prior experience building or scaling a DevOps function within a trading or financial services firm.
