Company Description Samarth eGov is part of Project Samarth, an initiative sponsored by the Ministry of Education (MoE) and executed by the University of Delhi to modernize and digitize higher education institutions across India. The project focuses on implementing robust information systems that support process automation and e-governance in central universities and other higher education institutions. Recognized as one of the Top ICT initiatives by the MoE, Samarth eGov provides a strong platform for innovation in public-sector technology. Role Description The Junior Software Engineer will work on the development, maintenance, and enhancement of e-governance and information system modules used by universities and higher education institutions. Day-to-day responsibilities include designing and implementing back-end features, writing clean and efficient code, fixing bugs, and participating in code reviews under the guidance of senior engineers. The role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to understand functional requirements, translating them into technical specifications, and supporting deployment and integration activities. This is a full-time, on-site position based in Surat, requiring regular coordination with project stakeholders and adherence to established development and security standards.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in Computer Science, including data structures, algorithms, and basic software engineering concepts.
- Practical experience or training in Software Development and Programming, with familiarity in at least one modern programming language (such as Java, Python, or C#).
- Knowledge of Back-End Web Development, including APIs, databases, and server-side frameworks.
- Understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) principles and ability to apply them in designing and implementing modular, maintainable code.
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
- Ability to learn quickly, follow coding standards, and work effectively in a collaborative, on-site team environment.
- Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) and basic software development lifecycle practices.
- Good communication skills and a willingness to engage with non-technical stakeholders in the education sector.
- Exposure to government or large-scale enterprise systems, and an interest in e-governance, is an advantage.
