Job Description & Responsibilities

We are seeking a Senior QA Automation Engineer to join our growing engineering team in Delhi. Our company operates at the intersection of fintech and enterprise SaaS, building scalable platforms that process millions of transactions daily for clients across India, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East. As we accelerate our release cadence from bi-weekly to weekly deployments, the need for intelligent, self-healing test infrastructure has become critical to maintaining quality without becoming a bottleneck.

This role sits within the Platform Engineering group, reporting directly to the Engineering Manager for Quality & Reliability. You will own the test automation strategy across microservices, APIs, and React-based frontends. The current stack includes Java 17, Spring Boot, Kafka, PostgreSQL, and Kubernetes on AWS. Our frontend runs on React with TypeScript, tested via Playwright. CI/CD pipelines are built on GitLab CI with ArgoCD for GitOps deployments.

Your primary focus will be evolving our automation framework from script-based Selenium suites to an AI-augmented testing layer. This includes integrating tools like Testim, Mabl, or Functionize for self-healing locators, implementing visual regression testing with Applitools, and building intelligent test selection using ML models trained on historical failure patterns. You will also design contract testing workflows with Pact for our 40+ internal service APIs, ensuring backward compatibility without heavy integration test suites.

Key responsibilities include

  • Architect and maintain a centralized test automation framework supporting UI, API, contract, and performance testing across 12+ microservices
  • Reduce test execution time from 45 minutes to under 12 minutes per pipeline run through parallelization, smart test selection, and flakiness elimination
  • Implement self-healing mechanisms that automatically update locators and assertions when UI changes are detected, targeting 80% reduction in maintenance overhead
  • Build and maintain a test data management strategy using synthetic data generation (Synthesized, Tonic) and database subsetting for ephemeral test environments
  • Collaborate with developers to embed contract tests in the PR pipeline, blocking merges that break consumer-driven contracts
  • Design chaos engineering experiments using LitmusChaos to validate resilience of critical payment flows under network partitions and latency spikes
  • Mentor 3-4 junior QA engineers on automation best practices, code reviews, and framework contribution
  • Produce monthly quality dashboards with metrics on defect escape rate, test coverage by risk area, mean time to detection, and automation ROI
  • Evaluate and pilot emerging AI testing tools quarterly, presenting business cases for adoption based on measurable outcomes
  • Partner with DevOps to embed security scanning (SAST/DAST/SCA) and performance benchmarks (k6, Gatling) into every release candidate

Our engineering culture emphasizes blameless postmortems, internal open-source contributions, and 20% innovation time for exploring new tools. The QA team participates in sprint planning, refinement, and retrospectives as equal partners. We practice trunk-based development with feature flags, and every engineer — including QA — owns their code from commit to production monitoring via Datadog and Grafana.

We are looking for someone with 5+ years of test automation experience, including at least 2 years designing frameworks from scratch. Deep expertise in Java or TypeScript is required. You must have production experience with Playwright or Cypress, REST/GraphQL API testing (RestAssured, Postman, or Pact), and CI/CD systems (GitLab CI, Jenkins, or GitHub Actions). Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and AWS (ECS/EKS, RDS, S3) is essential. Familiarity with AI-assisted testing tools (Testim, Mabl, Functionize, or custom ML models for test prioritization) is a strong differentiator. Experience in fintech, payments, or regulated environments is preferred but not mandatory.

We offer a competitive package including base salary (₹28-42 LPA depending on experience), equity grants, comprehensive health insurance for family, ₹1.5 LPA learning budget, flexible hybrid schedule (3 days onsite in Aerocity office), and quarterly hackathon weeks. The hiring process consists of a 30-minute screening call, a take-home framework design exercise (2-3 hours), a technical deep-dive with the engineering manager, a paired programming session with a senior engineer, and a final values conversation with the VP of Engineering. We aim to complete the process within 10 business days. If this aligns with your trajectory, share your GitHub/GitLab profile and a brief note on the most complex automation challenge you have solved.
