SEO/GEO Specialist – Focus on Generative Engine Optimization

About the Role

We're looking for a search visibility expert for the AI era. Traditional SEO is table stakes — your primary mandate is GEO (Generative Engine Optimization): making brands visible, cited, and accurately represented in answers generated by ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Gemini, and Google AI Overviews.

Responsibilities

• Own the GEO strategy: measure and improve brand presence in AI-generated answers across major engines
• Build and run prompt batteries to benchmark share-of-voice, citation frequency, and sentiment in AI responses
• Optimize content for machine readability — structured data, schema markup, llms.txt, entity clarity, and answer-friendly formatting
• Identify and influence the source ecosystem AI engines cite (authoritative publications, review sites, forums, Wikipedia)
• Run traditional SEO in parallel: technical audits, keyword strategy, on-page optimization, Core Web Vitals
• Track evolving AI search behavior and adapt strategy as engines change retrieval and citation patterns
• Report on GEO/SEO KPIs to clients and internal stakeholders with clear before/after evidence

Must-Have Skills

• 4–7 years in SEO, with demonstrable hands-on GEO/AEO/AI-search work in the last 1–2 years
• Deep understanding of how LLMs retrieve, synthesize, and cite content (RAG, training data vs. live search)
• Experience with structured data (JSON-LD, schema.org), technical SEO, and content architecture
• Proficiency with tools: Semrush/Ahrefs, Screaming Frog, GSC, plus GEO trackers (Profound, Otterly, Peec, or equivalents)
• Strong analytical skills — comfortable designing measurement frameworks where standard tooling doesn't exist yet
• Excellent content judgment: knowing what makes a page citable, not just rankable

Nice-to-Have

• Experience running GEO programs for consumer/CPG or multi-brand portfolios
• Familiarity with digital PR and authority-building for citation influence
• Basic scripting (Python) for prompt automation and answer-scraping at scale
• Understanding of multilingual/multi-market search optimization
