UnclaimedX is a Bengaluru-based FinTech startup building digital inheritance infrastructure for India. Our consumer app, Pass Down, helps people securely store financial credentials and nominee details so their family never loses what belongs to them.

India has over ₹1.84 lakh crore in unclaimed financial assets sitting across banks, insurance companies, and government accounts. Families lose that money not because they are careless but because no one planned ahead. We are building the product that fixes that.

The Role

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Full Stack Developer to join our growing engineering team. The successful candidate will contribute to the development and maintenance of both server-side APIs and web-facing interfaces powering the Pass Down platform, working under the guidance of a Senior Backend and Security Engineer to deliver well-structured, production-grade backend services and frontend web experiences.

This role offers exposure to security-conscious FinTech product development, AWS cloud infrastructure, and third-party service integration within a dynamic, fast-paced startup environment.

You will work day-to-day under our Head of Infrastructure & Security and directly with the founder on backend product decisions and integration requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Contribute to the development and maintenance of RESTful APIs supporting core application functionality across authentication, user management, and data operations
• Support the implementation of secure API logic for user authentication, OTP verification, and session management workflows
• Assist in the integration of third-party service
• Support cloud storage and file management operations utilising AWS S3 and related services
• Contribute to database schema design and query development under senior engineering guidance
• Develop clean, well-tested backend code with comprehensive input validation, error handling, and edge case coverage
• Contribute to API documentation and automated test coverage for all endpoints owned
• Assist in diagnosing and resolving API integration issues in collaboration with the mobile engineering team
• Adhere to existing backend architecture, coding conventions, and environment standards as defined by the senior engineering team

Requirements

• 1-2 years of demonstrated experience in Node.js backend, Reactjs, AWS services like Lambda, RDS, S3 etc.
• Working knowledge of RESTful API design and implementation: routing, controllers, middleware, and structured error handling
• Demonstrated experience with at least one relational or document-oriented database (MySQL, PostgreSQL or MongoDB) in a production environment
• Demonstrated experience with standard authentication mechanisms including JWT and OTP verification workflows
• Working understanding of backend security fundamentals: HTTPS enforcement, input validation, rate limiting, and secure data handling practices
• Demonstrated experience integrating third-party APIs within a production backend system
• Familiarity with environment configuration and secrets management practices
• Working knowledge of at least one AWS service (S3, EC2, or Lambda) in a production or professional project context
• Proficient use of version control systems, specifically Git, within collaborative development environments

Good to Have

• Exposure to AWS CloudHSM, KMS, or multi-region infrastructure
• Awareness of data encryption concepts: independent implementation is not required
• Experience diagnosing and resolving production-level backend incidents independently
• Exposure to automated API testing frameworks
