About the role

You will build and own features end to end in our fleet management web application: a data-heavy, map-centric product that gives fleet operators a live view of their vehicles, including real-time CAN and GPS telemetry, alerts, driver workflows, route history, and operational dashboards spanning EV, diesel, and CNG fleets.

This is a senior, hands-on engineering role. We are looking for someone who can turn ambiguous product requirements into maintainable frontend systems, ship well-tested production code, and improve the quality of the application through thoughtful design, code reviews, debugging, and sound engineering judgment.

You will work closely with product, design, backend, QA, and other engineers. You will be expected to own meaningful product areas rather than only implement well-scoped tickets.

What you’ll work on

• Real-time telemetry dashboards showing vehicle status, instrument clusters, alert lifecycles, trends, and threshold-driven indicators.
• Map-based experiences, including live vehicle tracking, route replay, geofences, vehicle clustering, nearby points of interest, and geocoding.
• Data-intensive interfaces containing tables, filters, charts, drill-downs, saved views, and bulk workflows.
• Real-time data delivery using technologies such as WebSockets, server-sent events, polling, or streaming APIs.
• Honest data presentation, a core product principle: timestamps, staleness indicators, degraded states, and fallbacks that never present stale or fabricated readings as live.
• High-fidelity, responsive UI implementation across desktop and tablet screen sizes.
• A reusable component and design system that remains accessible, consistent, and maintainable as the product grows.
• A feature-oriented frontend architecture with clear data boundaries, predictable state management, and strong test discipline.

Responsibilities

• Own medium-to-large frontend features from technical design through release, including edge cases, tests, rollout, observability, and production follow-up.
• Build production-quality React and TypeScript code that is maintainable, testable, accessible, and easy for other engineers to extend.
• Make sound decisions about component boundaries, state ownership, data flow, caching, error handling, rendering performance, and frontend architecture.
• Design interfaces that remain responsive while processing large datasets and frequent telemetry updates.
• Integrate backend APIs robustly, including defensive parsing, loading and error states, retries, cancellation, pagination, caching, and stale-data handling.
• Build and maintain real-time data flows while handling reconnections, duplicate messages, out-of-order events, backpressure, and partial failures.
• Write automated tests as part of every change, including unit, component, integration, and end-to-end tests where appropriate.
• Add a failing regression test when fixing a bug whenever the behavior can be tested reliably.
• Review code thoughtfully, identify architectural and production risks early, and help other engineers improve implementation quality.
• Diagnose browser, rendering, networking, memory, and performance problems using a methodical, evidence-based approach.
• Participate actively in product and design discussions, clarify ambiguity, and communicate technical constraints and trade-offs early.
• Improve frontend observability through error reporting, performance monitoring, useful telemetry, and actionable operational dashboards.
• Follow and help improve the team’s engineering and AI-assisted development practices so that software is shipped safely and consistently.
• Mentor engineers and contribute to frontend standards, documentation, and technical direction.

Required qualifications

• 5+ years of professional experience building and shipping production web applications.
• Strong hands-on experience with React, TypeScript, modern JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
• Strong understanding of React rendering behavior, hooks, component lifecycle, state management, memoization, reconciliation, and composition.
• Experience owning production frontend features end to end, including technical design, implementation, testing, deployment, monitoring, and post-release fixes.
• Solid understanding of browser fundamentals, including the event loop, promises, asynchronous execution, the DOM, browser rendering, network behavior, storage, and security boundaries.
• Experience designing state across multiple levels: local component state, shared client state, URL state, form state, and server or cached state.
• Practical experience integrating real-world APIs and handling inconsistent responses, timeouts, cancellation, pagination, authentication failures, retries, and unreliable connectivity.
• Ability to build responsive, accessible interfaces using semantic HTML, keyboard navigation, focus management, and appropriate ARIA attributes.
• Experience writing meaningful automated tests using tools such as React Testing Library, Vitest/Jest, Playwright, Cypress, or equivalent technologies.
• Ability to diagnose frontend performance issues using browser developer tools, profiling, network traces, runtime metrics, and production telemetry.
• Understanding of common web-security risks, including cross-site scripting, cross-site request forgery, unsafe token storage, dependency vulnerabilities, and accidental exposure of sensitive information.
• Comfort working within an established architecture while proposing improvements through evidence and discussion rather than unnecessary rewrites.
• Ability to review code constructively and explain technical trade-offs clearly.
• Clear written and spoken communication.
• Ability to work full-time from our Bangalore office.

Hiring process

• Take-home assignment — A practical React and TypeScript exercise based on a realistic product problem. You may use AI or other modern development tools; we care about the quality of the result, your decisions, and how thoroughly you understand what you submit.
• Assignment discussion and technical round — Walk us through your solution, architecture, tests, trade-offs, limitations, and production-readiness considerations, followed by a deeper discussion of React, TypeScript, browser behavior, performance, and frontend system design.
• Final technical round — A closing discussion with the engineering team focused on technical ownership, debugging, collaboration, and senior-level engineering judgment.
