Role Description

As a Founding Product Designer at Linear, you will shape the foundational user experience and visual language of the platform in a part-time, remote capacity. You will work closely with product, engineering, and leadership to translate complex financial workflows into intuitive interfaces, from early concepts and wireframes to polished, production-ready designs. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting user and UX research, creating design prototypes, defining interaction patterns, and iterating based on feedback and data. You will help establish design systems, contribute to product strategy, and ensure consistency and usability across all user touchpoints. This role offers significant influence over the product’s direction and the company’s design culture.

Qualifications

• Candidates should possess strong Product Design and Design Thinking skills, with experience turning user needs and business goals into coherent product experiences.
• Candidates should possess UX Research and User Research skills, including methods for discovery, usability testing, and synthesizing insights to inform design decisions.
• Candidates should possess Visual Design skills, with the ability to craft clear, elegant, and consistent interfaces and contribute to a scalable design system.
• Experience designing complex, data-rich or financial products, preferably for web-based platforms or trading/investment tools, is highly beneficial.
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment, collaborate asynchronously, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners.
• A portfolio demonstrating end-to-end product design work, from research and concept development through to final UI and shipped features.
• Familiarity with modern design tools (e.g., Figma or similar), prototyping techniques, and iterative, experiment-driven product development.
