Founding Accountant (Consumer AI)

We're building our founding team and looking for exceptional people who thrive in high-growth environments and love building systems from scratch.

As our first Finance & Accounts hire, you'll build the finance operations function from the ground up. You'll own accounting, compliance, taxation, payroll, financial reporting, cash flow management, and help establish the financial backbone of a rapidly scaling Consumer AI company.

This is a hands-on role with significant ownership and direct exposure to the founders and investors.

Accounting & Bookkeeping

• Maintain accurate books of accounts.
• Manage day-to-day accounting transactions.
• Record invoices, expenses, receipts, and journal entries.
• Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing.
• Reconcile bank accounts, payment gateways, and company accounts.

Financial Operations

• Manage accounts payable and receivable.
• Oversee vendor payments and collections.
• Monitor cash flow and working capital.
• Process employee reimbursements and expense claims.
• Support payroll processing with the HR team.

Taxation & Compliance

• Handle GST filings and reconciliations.
• Manage TDS calculations and filings.
• Ensure compliance with Companies Act requirements.
• Coordinate statutory audits, tax audits, and due diligence.
• Work closely with external CAs and auditors.
• Ensure timely ROC and other regulatory filings.

Financial Reporting

• Prepare monthly MIS reports.
• Build P&L, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow statements.
• Track budgets versus actuals.
• Support founders with financial analysis and reporting.
• Assist in board meetings and investor reporting.

Process & Systems

• Build scalable finance processes and internal controls.
• Improve accounting workflows through automation.
• Implement and manage accounting software.
• Ensure proper financial documentation and record keeping.

What We're Looking For

• 3–7 years of experience in accounting or finance.
• CA, CA Inter, or Bachelor's/Master's degree in Commerce or Finance.
• Strong understanding of Indian accounting standards and taxation.
• Experience with GST, TDS, ROC filings, payroll accounting, and statutory compliance.
• Proficiency in Tally, Zoho Books, QuickBooks, or similar accounting software.
• Advanced Excel or Google Sheets skills.
• High attention to detail and accuracy.
• Comfortable working in a fast-moving startup environment.

Bonus Points

• Startup experience.
• Experience with subscription businesses or Consumer Internet companies.
• Familiarity with payment gateways and digital transactions.
• Experience working with investor-backed startups.
• Interest in AI and technology businesses.
