Manager, Centre for Sustainable Finance, CPI India Research - New Delhi

Climate Policy Initiative (CPI) works to improve the most important energy and land use policies around the world, with a particular focus on finance. CPI supports decision makers through in-depth analysis on what works and what does not. CPI works in places that provide the most potential for policy impact, including Brasil, Europe, India, Indonesia, Kenya and the United States. Our work helps nations grow while addressing increasingly scarce resources and climate risk. This is a complex challenge in which policy plays a crucial role. Centre for Sustainable Finance (CSF) is a knowledge and networking hub designed to align India's financial sector towards a more sustainable future. A first of-its-kind initiative in India, CSF aims to build an ecosystem through knowledge sharing and networking with various stakeholders, that would reorient the financial intermediation provided by banks and capital markets towards sustainable development. CSF aims to make the financial system resilient to increased financial risks while enabling a Just transition to a low-carbon economy.

CSF offers support to policymakers and regulators to make this integral shift in capital allocation by developing a common platform for engagement, enabling dialogue between stakeholders; sharing of best practices, research and analysis; delivering capacity-building workshops for banks and financial institutions; as well as providing inputs for policy-making and financial sector regulation. CSF is managed by Climate Policy Initiative (CPI).

The Manager role, reporting directly to the Head of CSF, would be responsible for providing essential support in the planning and execution of research initiatives, capacity building activities, collaborative forums, and engagement with stakeholders.

Additionally, the incumbent will be an active contributor to various ongoing projects and programs undertaken by CPI in India.

At the heart of this role is the opportunity to contribute to sustainable finance strategies, foster impactful policy interventions, and actively participate in initiatives that drive positive change at the intersection of climate action and economic development.

The ideal candidate will bring prior experience with the following thematic areas - research, adaptation, green investment, MSMEs, and gender. Candidates with banking background in credit, risk, strategy; NBFCs, financial institutions (specifically in the strategy division or risk management division) or consulting firms within financial and risk management, ESG, climate risk and climate divisions in banks are eligible to apply.

Have primary responsibility for projects as designated by, and under the direction of senior management and ad-hoc advisory committees, develop, manage, and implement complex research assignments and analytical projects

Lead the production and completion of high-quality CPI products, including full reports, executive summaries, blogs, and presentations, working closely with the Communications team.

Conduct research and analysis on topics related to sustainable finance, including policy and regulation, market practices, reporting and disclosure, taxonomy, and innovative financial mechanisms.

Curriculum development for capacity development programs on sustainable finance for various stakeholders, including banks, financial institutions, policymakers, and regulators.

Establish and maintain excellent relationships with key stakeholders, existing clients, and potential partners in the field of sustainable finance.

Qualifications & Experience

Post Graduate degree in Finance/Economics/Engineering /Management/CFA and demonstrable (atleast 8-10 years) post qualification experience in field.

Significant professional experience in financial sector, management consulting/advisory/research, international non-profit, government, and/or a multi-lateral institution.

Independent, analytical mind with an excellent track record of applying sound financial judgment to complex issues.

Outstanding written and verbal communication skills including fluency in English

Understanding of climate finance and the financial sector actors and actions that are crucial to driving a low carbon, climate-resilient economy and building back better

Exposure/Experience in working with the Government, Financial Regulators, domestic and international philanthropy, and DFIs.

You have strong quantitative, data management, data analysis, and critical thinking.

You are an advanced user of MS Office suite, in particular Excel, and able to learn and adapt to new systems;

You are willing to travel domestically.

Location and compensation

CPI is hiring for one permanent/fixed term, full-time Manager position based in Delhi/NCR .

CPI offers a competitive compensation and benefits package. Compensation will be dependent on experience.
