Job Description – .NET Developer

About the Role

We are looking for a skilled .NET Developer with strong Visual Basic/VB.NET experience to join our development team. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience in developing, maintaining, debugging, and enhancing applications using the Microsoft .NET technology stack.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and enhance applications using VB.NET and the .NET Framework/.NET.
• Design, develop, test, and deploy software applications based on business requirements.
• Write clean, scalable, and maintainable code following coding standards and best practices.
• Develop and maintain Windows/Desktop and/or Web applications.
• Work with SQL Server, including writing queries, stored procedures, functions, and database-related logic.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve application issues and production defects.
• Integrate applications with APIs, databases, and third-party systems.
• Participate in code reviews, unit testing, and application performance optimization.
• Understand existing applications and perform enhancements and modifications as required.
• Collaborate with business analysts, QA teams, and other developers to deliver projects on time.
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation related to applications and development activities.

Required Skills

• Strong hands-on experience in Visual Basic / VB.NET.
• Good knowledge of .NET Framework / .NET.
• Proficiency in ASP.NET and/or Windows Forms/WPF.
• Strong knowledge of C# will be an added advantage.
• Good working knowledge of SQL Server and database concepts.
• Experience with Web APIs/REST APIs.
• Understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) concepts.
• Good debugging and problem-solving skills.
• Familiarity with Git or other version control systems.
• Good understanding of SDLC and software development best practices.

Preferred Skills

• Experience in migrating or modernizing VB6/VB.NET applications.
• Knowledge of .NET Core / .NET 6+.
• Experience with Microsoft Azure or other cloud platforms.
• Knowledge of Entity Framework/Entity Framework Core.
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum development methodologies.
• Experience working with legacy applications and integrating them with modern technologies.

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
• Relevant technical certifications would be an advantage.
