Data Engineering & BI Modernization Architect

Key Responsibilities : Data Engineering & BI Modernization : - Design and build ETL/ELT pipelines to migrate legacy BI systems (SSRS, Cognos, legacy SSAS/OLAP cubes) to modern cloud data platforms (Snowflake, Databricks, Azure Synapse, BigQuery, or similar).- Re-architect and optimize data models (star/snowflake schemas, semantic layers) to support modern self-service BI tools (Power BI, Tableau, Looker).- Modernize legacy reporting and dashboarding assets, ensuring performance, governance, and cost-efficiency in the target platform.- Build and maintain orchestration workflows using tools such as Airflow, dbt, ADF, or equivalent.- Implement data quality, lineage, and governance practices as part of modernization initiatives.- Collaborate with architects and client stakeholders to define migration roadmaps and target-state architectures.Sales Enablement & Client-Facing Support : - Partner with the sales and pre-sales team to scope BI modernization opportunities, including effort estimation and solution design for proposals/RFPs.- Build and deliver technical demos and proof-of-concepts that showcase modernization outcomes to prospective clients.- Translate complex technical migration plans into clear, business-friendly narratives for client presentations.- Support the creation of case studies, technical collateral, and reusable accelerators that strengthen the firm's BI modernization pitch.- Participate in client workshops and discovery sessions to assess current-state BI landscapes and identify modernization opportunities.Required Skills & Experience : - 59 years of experience in data engineering, with at least 23 years specifically on BI/data warehouse modernization projects.- Strong SQL skills and hands-on experience with at least one cloud data platform (Snowflake, Databricks, Azure Synapse, Redshift, or BigQuery).- Experience migrating legacy BI tools/reports (SSRS, Cognos, OBIEE, legacy SSAS) to modern BI platforms (Power BI, Tableau, Looker).Total Experience : 12-18 years (ref:hirist.tech)
